This article presents an invitation to imagine education otherwise, what education could be if we took a restorative justice approach and make immediate changes. It focuses on the changes needed to make this vision a reality. Covid-19 has exposed many of the inequalities that exist in education and how these inequalities have negative effects on the neediest students. You are invited to imagine schools as sites of justice and freedom, to think of teaching that is centered on children, caring, and building relationships with families.

E-Cigarette And Vape Prevention In Rural Southeast Utah: Outcomes Of Teacher Education, Christina Pay, Jenna Hawks, Jordyn Oman, Cris Meier, Ashley Yaugher

“Be Epic” is a multi-component health and wellness program on vape prevention in rural Southeast Utah that targets youth grades 5–12, teachers, and parents. The teacher component included a one-time education session that taught teachers the basics of the “CATCH my Breath” curriculum. Results of a short-term outcome evaluation showed an increase in teachers’ knowledge and confidence related to e-cigarette education.

School neuropsychology is a field of study that is seeing rapid growth in institutions of higher learning, and subsequently in public and private schools. School neuropsychology assessments are substantially more extensive than traditional psychoeducational assessments reports. The reports are discussed at the student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meeting and school educators need to be present at the meeting. Educators have often expressed that it is extremely difficult to understand the complicated reports. It is often viewed as too complex to grasp and too overwhelming. The essential question of the relationship between consciousness and matter is ignored in medical school curricula, leading to a machine-like view of the human being that contributes to physician burnout and intellectual dissatisfaction. The evidence suggesting that the brain may not be the seat of consciousness is generally ignored to preserve the worldview of the primacy of matter. By investigating new frameworks detailing the nature of consciousness at different levels of hierarchy, we can bring intellectual rigor to a once opaque subject that supports a fundamental reality about our experience: We are human beings, not only human bodies.
