While Catholic schools strive to maintain a particular identity, this is not easy when they operate as public schools. In most African countries where the Church operates large networks of Catholic schools, most Catholic schools are public schools, which provides funding but also leads to some constraints. This paper focuses on the issue of the selection and faith/spiritual formation of lay principals in Ghana’s Catholic public Schools. Issues are discussed and a few recommendations are made.

The process of clinical knowledge translation contributes to clinical decision-making along with interactions with other healthcare professionals, their patients, and the communities they serve. Clinical practice guidelines, patient care experience, and continuing medical education are some of the components that contribute to clinical knowledge translation. The knowledge and interactions help inform a physician’s salient beliefs. Thus, the use of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) facilitates research into how background factors which include knowledge and interactions influence behavioral, normative, and control beliefs and in turn, how those beliefs influence intention and ultimately, physician clinical practice behavior.

The purpose of this phenomenology study was to understand the experiences of women principals located in Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem (KEEA) district of the Central Region of Ghana, a patriarchal and traditional society. Specifically, this study examined how cultural factors positively or negatively influenced women access to the principal role and influenced their leadership experiences. Using Hofstede et al.’s (2010) six dimensions of national culture as a conceptual framework, this study elucidates the experiences of 12 women school leaders. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) call for providing a quality education for all by 2030. In order to achieve the SDGs and improve educational outcomes globally, it is essential to understand what teaching strategies teachers use and to comprehend if students are learning. The purpose of this study is 1) to understand what teaching pedagogies Ghanaian teachers use in their Low-Fee Private Schools (LFPSs); and 2) to determine whether students stay on task. This study explores private higher education and implementation of quality assurance procedures in Ghana, a country in West Africa. While focusing on the three main isomorphic classifications (coercive, mimetic and normative) of DiMaggio and Powell’s (1983) institutional theory, this study examines how regulatory measures are not only designed to enhance the quality of private higher education institutions, but also how they impact the efforts employed by private providers towards meeting quality assurance standards in the environment in which they are located. The academic performance of students in public basic schools in rural Ghana during the past two decades has declined significantly (Akyeampong, 2007). Government efforts to remedy this have not yielded any sustainable result (Atta-Quayson, 2007). The Saboba District Junior High Schools are among the lowest-performing rural schools. Generally, inadequate funding and resourcing are blamed for poor academic achievement of disadvantaged, rural students.
