Recent Federal Case Spotlights School’S Concussion Protocol, Charles J. Russo, Susan C. Davies

High school football players are nearly twice as likely to sustain a concussion as college players, according to a recent study by the Institute of Medicine and funded by the NFL. As such, it’s important for schools to have concussion protocols for student-athletes injured during play. A recent case, Mann v. Palmerton Area School District, 117 LRP 40825 (3d Cir. 09/21/17), highlights the importance of having school concussion management and prevention policies in place for student-athletes. Factors Contributing To Student Athlete Selection Of Nebraska Wesleyan University, Benjamin M. Santo

The purpose of this qualitative case study was to gain insight into which factors of recruitment were important to a student-athletes decision regarding their choice of college. It is vital for recruiters to recognize factors that potential student-athletes consider important in the recruiting process, because a successful recruiter is one who can build a strong relationship with the student-athlete. The researcher selected Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) football student-athletes to conduct the study for the research.
Seniors, juniors, and sophomores were selected to participate in the study. Participants completed a 12 question survey instrument that was designed to assess important recruiting …

This is an artificial series created by culling Athletic Committee records from the President's Office files. It consists of meeting minutes, correspondence and reports. The early meeting minutes are incomplete through 1950. Topics routinely discussed were athletic schedules, awards, varsity standing of sports and compliance with conference and NCAA policies. Ohio Valley Conference meeting minutes and summaries of NCAA meetings are generally included.

Guides to Manuscript Collections
Mr. Hamlin is a local (Huntington, WV) attorney who is an alumnus of Marshall University. Mr. Hamlin was the quarterback of the 1964 Marshall University football team and has been a long-time supporter of the football and athletic programs at Marshall. Following the expulsion of the University from the Mid-American Conference and the plane crash of 1971, Mr. Hamlin became actively involved in trying to convince the University's administration to seek membership in the Southern Conference.
The bulk of the collection contains correspondence, manuscripts, newspaper articles and editorials, and research materials related to Marshall University joining the Southern Conference. Other …
