The Experiences of Black Women Doctoral Students through the Transparency of Black Feminist Thought delivers the incomparable experiences that black women encounter during their course of studies in a doctoral program. The experiences of black women in doctoral programs are vastly different from any other group due to preconceived notions.

The conference is adequately conversing on the power of the black female and the how education looks in the black community and this presentation touches on both topics to generate further discussions.

In higher education, assessment is used to intentionally develop, implement, and modify programs that are grounded in student learning outcomes (SLOs). Assessment results may highlight program effectiveness, or lack thereof. This gives educators the chance to revise components of the program in order to improve student learning (Meixner, 2016). Assessment also creates a sense of accountability by offering methods to justify the value of a program, especially when time and resources are limited. This research is an exploratory analysis of the use of student created video assignments at JMU, a pedagogical strategy that is increasingly common but not widely researched. The study collected quantitative data via an online survey of JMU students with the objective of examining the use, design, and outcomes of student created video assignments at James Madison University. Survey topics included the requirements of the assignment, the course that included the assignment, resources available and/or used to complete the assignment, students’ perceptions of the learning outcomes, as well as non-identifying information about each respondent’s demographics and academic experience at JMU. …

The purpose of this literature review is to address how internalized and externalized behaviors in adolescents impact academic achievement in faith-based institutions. This research intends to bring awareness to the prevalence of mental health concerns faced by adolescents, as well as the need for mental health services in the education system. This research will also identify the relationship between internalizing and externalizing behaviors, and academic achievement. Prospective students across Illinois work excessively towards the achievement of getting accepted to the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy. Though the selection process of applicants is meant to be fair and only admit the most qualified students, it has been found that this process has its flaws. While GPA and SAT scores are factored into these decisions, additional factors such as geographic, gender, and ethnic criteria are involved. The disadvantages that marginalized individuals encounter create obstacles that make obtaining success extremely difficult, and for some, impossible. We aim to challenge the lack of representation of middle and lower class citizens by proposing to federally dismantle lobbying within America’s Executive, Judicial, and Legislative Branches.
