It was the purpose of this study (1) to survey the importance of the role of the elementary principal in improvement of instruction, (2) to make a limited study of professional literature, in order to discover ways and means by which the elementary principal provides more effective supervisory services, (3) to present a proposed program for improving the supervisory services of the principal in Central School which would result in an improvement in instruction, and (4) to conclude the study with selected summarizing statements.

The purpose of this study is to show that we are recognizing and learning ways to cope with the problem; namely: how to return the use of time, space, numbers, and content to those who need it--the teachers and their students--in even the larger schools that symbolize so well our concept of education for all youth.
