The University of Nebraska and the state have a successful history of partnering to address deferred maintenance needs across the campuses. Through two pieces of legislations - LB1100, passed in 1998, and LB605, passed in 2006 - the state has invested funds, combined with university funds, to keep NU buildings updated, safe and functional. LB1100 resulted in $79 million worth of renovations, while LB605 has allowed for $163 million in projects.

The Board of Regents consists of eight voting members elected by district (see map) for six-year- terms, and four non-voting student Regents, one from each campus, who serve during their tenure as student body president. The board supervises the general operations of the university, and the control and direction of all expenditures. The board also includes a corporation secretary who manages all records including agendas, minutes, notices, policies and bylaws. Those document's can also be found on this web site.

The Office of Ombudsperson was established at UNO in the fall of 1970. The purpose of the office is to receive and investigate complaints. Anyone - students, faculty, administrators, or staff members-may request the service.
The Ombudsperson has no official authority to impose a solution too situation. Rother, it is his/ her responsibility to look into the conditions that have caused someone to lodge a complaint in on effort to resolve the difficulty. Ombudsperson powers are restricted to those of inquiry and recommendation.
