Culturally relevant coaching (CRC) is a support system that centers the individual and specific needs of the teacher. Understanding that support has to be layered and differentiated, it focuses on coaching the whole teacher rather than the sum of their parts. Inclusive of building and developing the emotional resilience of novice teachers while at the same time helping them to grow their instructional practice and skills. CRC attends to both the professional and personal side of what makes a teacher effective in their classroom practice.

The purpose of this action research was to evaluate the impact of a situated coaching model for participating teachers at an elementary school. This study focused on three research questions: (1) how do participants experience a situated coaching model for technology professional development? (2) how does a situated coaching model affect participants’ digital learning environment scores? and (3) how does a situated coaching model impact participants’ perception of barriers to implementing a digital learning environment?

The purpose of this action research study was to determine how instructional coaching impacted implementation of shared reading strategies in kindergarten classrooms. This study included four teachers from one primary school in South Carolina. All of the teachers that participated in this study had more than two years of teaching experience. Data for this study was collected from surveys, classroom observations, lesson plans, and focus groups.
