Autocratic Leadership Within West African Pentecostal Denomination, Ezekiel Olaleye
Autocratic Leadership Within West African Pentecostal Denomination, Ezekiel Olaleye
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this grounded theory study was to determine whether autocratic leadership theory best explains the nature of leadership in the West African Pentecostal/Charismatic Denomination (PCD) across West Africa and to compare the current leadership practices within the PCD to a biblical and theological framework. Since Africa is the fastest growing Christian continent in the world, it is important to give careful attention to matters arising within the church leadership. The researcher believes that this study helped shed light on leadership challenges within African Christianity, Christian education, and most importantly within the Pentecostal/Charismatic denomination. It also provides information that …

Post Pandemic Praxis: A Meditation On Psalm 23, Esther R. Gillie
The Christian Librarian
As universities and colleges begin to define ways to move forward in a post-COVID year, Psalm 23 offers some thoughtful practices for how to return to a new normal while still dealing with the side effects of pandemic pivoting. This article considers what provisions the Lord offers through the paradigm of Psalm 23. This Psalm offers helpful perspective, context, an overarching vision of life, and specific steps that are vital in recovering from valley experiences as people move towards a restored and flourishing new normal.

An Ethnographic Interpretation Of Latino Perspectives On Family Engagement In Education, Mary Beth Pollema
An Ethnographic Interpretation Of Latino Perspectives On Family Engagement In Education, Mary Beth Pollema
Faculty Work Comprehensive List
In this period of intense demographic change and educational reform that strongly emphasizes the imperative of family engagement, yet implicates minority culture parents as not being involved, it behooves the field of education to take a closer look at the rigidity that schools utilize in their normalized perceptions and practices of parental involvement. Effective involvement can consist of a number of different activities, but only a few are acknowledged in educational discourse. Therefore, it is important to hear the perspectives of families of other cultures in order to bring to light new understanding that will assist schools in building stronger …

A Phenomenological Study Of Anger's Dissonance: Exploring The Attribute Of Meekness Among Christian Exemplars, Stephen Ethan Halstead
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This phenomenological research examined the role of cognitive dissonance in the process of spiritual and behavioral change in the lives of mature Christian exemplars within the Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) located in the Southeast Region of the United States of America by peering through the lens of the emotion of anger to explore one’s transformation toward meekness. Utilizing a purposive sampling, this study sought to explore the magnitude of behavioral change from a tendency toward anger to a tendency toward meekness as one matures as a Christian. It sought to close the gap in understanding how Christians viewed …
"Read It Again!": Storytelling To Imitate The Great Teacher, Kate Whatley
"Read It Again!": Storytelling To Imitate The Great Teacher, Kate Whatley
Senior Honors Theses
The student’s mind is bent on stories, asking mothers around the world to ‘read it again’. These stories preserve information and emotions for centuries. In the classroom, stories enliven motivation and empathy in ways that result in higher academic achievement and social awareness. Learning to use stories as a key instructional strategy will allow for more equitable opportunities in classrooms, encourage mental health and truth telling for the teacher and the student collectively, and allow the academic community to imitate Christ by contributing to the bigger story taking place across time. In application of using stories as teachers, this thesis …

Servant-Leadership: Social-Science Model Or Biblical Model--Which Is Predominant Within Southern Baptist Ministry Leadership?, Norman Custis Snead Sr.
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
The purpose of this quantitative descriptive research study was to discover the most predominant leadership style, of the five styles being measured (Autocratic/Authoritarian, Bureaucratic, Democratic, Laissez-faire, or Servant-Leader), that was found within the ministry leadership of the Southern Baptist Convention, and to discover which servant-leadership model (social-science or biblical) was more predominantly followed by those using a servant-leadership style. Furthermore, the correlation of their leadership position and educational level were analyzed for those ministry leaders predominantly following the social-science model of servant-leadership. The social-science model was identified and defined through a literature review. Whereas, the biblical model was defined and …
