The growing interest in EFL around the world has required learning opportunities that engage and maintain the motivation of students to learn English. This article aims to provide an analysis of the level of motivation, the motivational orientations that students experience, and explain the motivational factors that influence student motivation, these are relevant factors according to Dörnyei (2003) and Gardner (2010; 2009). El propósito de esta investigación fue comprender la realidad de las prácticas de enseñanza y aprendizaje en inglés como lengua extranjera en el CFAFC (Centro de Formación en Actividad Física y Cultura) del Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje más conocido como SENA. Se trata de un estudio sociocrítico transformacional centrado en un enfoque cualitativo, en el que participó un grupo de aprendices e instructores del CFAFC del SENA en Bogotá.
