Since 1990, the government of Taiwan has sought to position the country as an international economic and trading center. As a result, English became a compulsory subject for Taiwanese students in 2005 (Lu, 2011). The Taiwan Ministry of Education (MOE) is promoting communicative language teaching (CLT) and encouraging learners to develop and increased desire to improve their language skills. ABSTRACT This Field Project acknowledges the high prevalence of heterogeneous classes in
Taiwan’s EFL language schools and, additionally, seeks to empower EFL teachers by providing a solution for said imbalance. Because of the misinformed EFL guidelines that have influenced Taiwan’s language-in education policies, the stakeholders of Taiwan’s EFL classrooms-e.g. administrators, students, parents, etc.- have not directly addressed the complex issues that have contributed to the problematic heterogeneous classroom situation (as cited in Chen, 2013, p. 159).
