A personal essay detailing six months spent as an unpaid intern at a nationally recognized theatre company. This paper explores the exploitative nature of unpaid internships, and takes into consideration the growing number of unpaid interns across the United States in the last decade. Also included is an analysis of which members of our society are able to financially afford to participate in unpaid internships, and the implications that has for who is entering the job market with possible advantages.
