Cyrano De Bergerac
Taylor Theatre Playbills
The playbill for Taylor University’s performance of Cyrano de Bergerac, based on the translation written by Anthony Burgess of the play written by Edmund Rostand.
Performed November 10-12, 17-19, 2017 at the Mitchell Theatre.
Dashing, proud, and romantic, Cyrano is one of the most memorable figures in theatre history. Known throughout Paris for his unmatched bravery and the charm of his verse, poet Cyrano de Bergerac has one problem—his enormous nose. During an age of gallant musketeers and extravagant lifestyles, this beautiful soul is damned by his marred appearance. Not one to give up, Cyrano joins forces with the handsome …

Miscellaneous Publications – Mexican
The unknown author of this 1846 publication asks the question: “Would the invasion and conquest of Mexico by the United States … be right?” A series of questions surrounding the annexation of Texas and the justification for going to war against Mexico are asked and answered. They included, in part: Is the war right? Is it expedient? Was the revolution of Texas right? Was the annexation of Texas right? Concluding that the answers to these questions were yes, a second, independent justification was proffered relating to the injuries Mexico was inflicting on the United States of America commerce. Concerns about …

An 1850 report prepared by William Carey Jones at the request of the Secretaries of State and Interior. In the first half of the report, Jones described the method by which land titles were created from the first inception to the perfect title as practiced by Mexico within the Province of California, as well as the history of the issuance of land grants subsequent to the independence of Mexico from Spain and the process by which that was accomplished. Jones provides a list of records and memoranda of grants found in the government archives of Monterey. The report addressed the …

17__ - Plano De Punta Escondida Y Del Islote De Cayo Escondido En La Parte Suroriental De La Baja California
Pre-1824 Maps
An undated, incomplete chart missing the upper half where there most likely was a population plan and index that corresponded to the alphabetical notations on the map. It is missing any type of cartouche or legend describing the chart. The title was derived from the content of the map. It appears to be a plan of Puerto Escondido and the islet of Cayo Escondido located in the southeastern part of Baja California, Mexico, some 15 miles south of Loreto on the Sea of Cortez. The chart focuses on topography, reflected by the relief represented by contour lines, as opposed to …

1769 - Plano De La Costa Del Sur Corregido Hasta La Canal De Santa Barbara
Pre-1824 Maps
Under orders from Don Jose de Gálvez, between 1768 and 1770, Miguel Constanzó explored the coastline of the California (Baja) Peninsula and Alta California with a two-fold purpose: 1) to correct existing navigational charts, and 2) to investigate and develop plans for the ports of San Diego and Monterey. He was also directed, if possible, to investigate the San Francisco Bay region and develop plans for that area too. His explorations resulted in four maps that included a plan focused on the coastal region around the Channel of Santa Bárbara. The map roughly depicts the coastline from San Blas, New …
