Cocaine-Induced Left Ventricular Apical Aneurysm: A Case Report, Kennedy Olson, William Reckley, Roy Kondapavuluru, Oliverio Abarca, Yareli Durazo, Andres Suarez Parraga

Introduction: Cocaine, a significant source of morbidity and mortality in the United States, is one of the most frequently consumed recreational substances worldwide. Long-term use of cocaine is known to cause irreversible cardiotoxic effects, such as structural damage to the heart, electrical irregularities, diastolic heart failure, and myocardial infarctions. Cocaine-induced cardiomyopathy is associated with concentric ventricular hypertrophy alongside decreased ventricular compliance. However, recent research has hypothesized that patients who already have symptomatic cardiovascular disease are at an increased risk of developing an impairment in systolic ventricular function following chronic cocaine use, which is hypothesized to be caused by either direct …

The purpose of this exploratory case study was to consider how instructors can facilitate a safe and inclusive environment for adult learners in an online graduate program and to explore the potential benefits of such a learning space. Through a thematic analysis of the case study materials, three prominent themes emerged. The three themes were: a) seeking to engage through sharing life experiences, b) mindfulness-based reflective practice, and c) facilitating safe and inclusive spaces as a path to transformation. As the hospitality industry continues to struggle with attracting and retaining employees, chefs in particular, research on culture in kitchens continues to grow. A recent report in Ireland exposed a culture of bullying and harassment of employees in the hospitality sector. Internationally, researchers have explored the complexity of navigating, belonging, and coping in professional kitchens and have subsequently identified how trauma is embedded in the practice of cooking and serving food. The literature on data privacy in terms of educational technology is a growing area of study. The perspective of educators has been captured extensively. However, the literature on students’ perspectives is missing, which is what we explore in this paper. We use a pragmatic qualitative approach with an experiential lens to capture students’ attitudes towards data privacy in terms of educational technology. We identified preliminary, common themes that appeared in the survey responses. The paper concludes by calling for more research on how students perceive data privacy in terms of educational technology.

This study investigates and compares the levels of stress, anxiety, and depression among a sample of 574 undergraduate students in the Aerospace Professional Pilot concentration, Aerospace majors in concentrations other than Professional Pilot, and Non-Aerospace students at Middle Tennessee State University. This study sought to determine if Aerospace students exhibited higher levels of depression, anxiety, and stress. The participants of this study completed the DASS-21, a survey instrument that measures three separate constructs: depression, anxiety, and stress.
