Chinese Language Teaching Methodology and Technology
With artificial intelligence (AI) technology rapidly developing, the way in which humans learn is undergoing considerable change. The breakout of COVID-19 at the end of 2019 accelerated the pace with which people use AI technology for various tasks. The issue of e-materials to teach Chinese as a foreign language (TCFL) motivates the research of a one-group pretest-post-test design along with pre-experimental work: this in turn examines the online ability of student teachers working with TCFL. Chinese Language Teaching Methodology and Technology
Since the coronavirus outbreak, multiple academic institutions have held online seminars that have been beneficial to Chinese language teachers' professional development (PD). However, it remains unknown whether the PD programs are appropriately designed regarding selecting topics and presenters. A total of 432 presentations of this study were retrieved from six Chinese and American organizations during the pandemic from May 1, 2020, to April 30, 2021. The content analysis approach was employed to analyze and categorize the framework of Technological Pedagogical Content and Teacher's Soft-Skill Knowledge (TPACKS) into different themes and layouts of those presentations. Very few music therapists have educational background or training to be proficient at teaching at institutions of higher education. With only minimal (if any) training in andragogy and in research methodology, music therapy junior faculty (MTJF) members find themselves novice academics in the highly structured, competitive environment of the academy. Persistence to graduation for adult undergraduate students has been challenging for decades. Many adult learners enroll into the university with numerous sociodemographic characteristics that can hinder their success. Adult students must manage multiple roles and balance their personal, professional and student roles in order to succeed. Twenty-eight percent of first year undergraduate students will not return to college in their second year (American College Testing, 2012). The purpose of this qualitative case study was to explore how instructional approaches to teaching developmental writing at a large urban community college foster the development of college students’ self-efficacy regarding academic writing and self-identity as college students. The case study examined the perspectives of four instructors and six students. The research considered: 1) how students experience the development of self-efficacy related to their academic writing; 2) how students experience their self-identity as college students; 3) how writing instructors foster students’ development of self-efficacy as writers; and 4) how writing instructors foster students’ self-identities as college students. The research addressed factors affecting degree completion for adult male students. This qualitative case study explored factors that contributed to the persistence of undergraduate adult male students and their perception of their role within the campus community. The research considered: 1) how adult male undergraduate students described their ability to persist until degree completion; 2) what factors contributed to persistence; 3) what types of social interactions enabled participants to persist; and 4) how adult male undergraduate students described their relationship to the campus community.
