Iodine is an essential nutrient for the human body. It is required by the thyroid gland for producing the thyroxine hormone. Human body lacks the ability to self-produce iodine. Some sources of iodine in food such as seafood, milk, egg, fruits, and vegetables can be consumed to fulfill the daily needs. Table salt is one of the sources of iodine that is routinely consumed. According to SNI No. 3556:2010, table salt must be fortified with 30–80 ppm of potassium iodate. Investigation Of Intercalation Of Sodium-Montmorillonite With Octadecyl Trimethyl Ammonium Bromide Surfactant, Chandra J. Soegijono. B

Sodium-montmorillonite (Na+-MMT) was intercalation modified with octadecyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (OTAB) in aqueous suspension via an ion exchange mechanism. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) study indicates that OTAB is successfully intercalated into Na+-MMT layers and/or adsorbed on the surface of Na+-MMT. X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis revealed that the interlayer spacing of the Na+-MMT was extended with the content of OTAB increasing, and the maximum spacing can reach about 3.80 nm. Results of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis reveals the morphologies change from spherical-like particles to high-aspect ratio flakes after modification. Educators consider the video learning approach an effective method to deliver educational content as compared to the traditional method of books and written materials. This paper presents a project that involves student-generated videos to learn internal control in an undergraduate accounting information systems course. We believe that this video learning approach is an engaging way for students to be self-directed learners in learning internal control and complements the written materials in the textbook. In this chapter, we will discuss how SMU brought about innovation changes in the university’s learning environment. In 2011, a steering committee was set up by SMU President, Professor Arnoud De Meyer to develop strategies that focused on innovation in learning pedagogy at the university. The accounting field holds a background in ethical understanding to be of great importance. The purpose of this project was to investigate the extent to which ethics education is emphasized and implemented within the business, and specifically accounting, curricula of US collegiate level institutions. Course curricula from a sample of 445 AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) accredited business programs in the US were examined for their emphasis on ethics education. A radical approach to preparing university students with future work skills, by combining academic with experiential learning through real projects faced by client partners. Learn how a university can create opportunities for collaborative learning and a tripartite learning relationship for academia, students and industry. Outcomes and impact of the case Post-module feedback surveys conducted over AY2015/16 showed that over 80% of the students who took an SMU-X module reported enhanced problem-solving, analytical, reasoning and communication skills, all of which were skills highly valued by employers. Academic Accounting Salaries In The Southwest: A Revisitation And Exploration, Kelly Noe, Mary Fischer, Treba Marsh, Dana A. Forgione

This study examines the faculty located in the Southwest Region of the American Accounting Association to ascertain salary determinants as well explore salary compression and inversion. This study finds there are differences among faculty salaries based on longevity, institutional type and size. Typically larger, public institutions pay higher salaries. Further this study finds that salary, perceived salary compared to others, institutional longevity, marital status, institutional type and size are significantly associated with faculty’s gender.

This paper describes a classroom Job-Order Costing and manufacturing simulation called Lumberjack Construction. This simulation is used in introductory managerial accounting and cost accounting courses to help students understand the various parts of the manufacturing process and the application of Job-Order Costing principles. For this simulation, students are placed into manufacturing groups. Each group is responsible for manufacturing a building and calculating the cost of that building using job-order costing.

Online learning has been gaining widespread adoption due to its success in enhancing student-learning outcomes and improving student academic performance. This paper describes an online tutorial to teach resource-event-agent (REA) data modeling in an undergraduate accounting information systems course. The REA online tutorial reflects a self-study application designed to help students improve their understanding of the REA data model. As such, the tutorial acts as a supplement to lectures by reinforcing the concepts and incorporating practices to assess student understanding.
