Recommendations For An International Regulatory Regime For Commercial Space, Margaret O'Brien
Recommendations For An International Regulatory Regime For Commercial Space, Margaret O'Brien
Discovery Day - Daytona Beach
The rapid advancement of space technologies in both governmental and private sectors presents a significant challenge for existing space law frameworks. Emerging activities such as space mining are gaining international attention, yet lawmakers struggle to craft regulations for an industry that is still in development. Innovators and investors often hesitate to assume risk in the absence of clear international guidelines. This research explores the complex legal and policy considerations surrounding space resource utilization, including the lack of consensus with existing treaties, the unpredictability of potential hazards, and the widening technological gap between industrialized and developing nations. Historical frameworks, such as …

Discovery Day - Daytona Beach
While the U.S. domestic airline industry generates hundreds of billions in annual revenue, the mechanics of airfare pricing remain remarkably opaque to travelers and analysts alike. Prices for geographically similar routes often diverge sharply, driven by a complex interplay of structural constraints and market pressures. This study elucidates the primary drivers of ticket pricing by analyzing high-frequency data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics DB1B database. Utilizing an Ordinary Least Squares framework, the research evaluates how route distance, carrier concentration, passenger throughput, and seasonal fluctuations collectively dictate average fares. By quantifying these relationships in Python, the analysis seeks to isolate …

As artificial intelligence transforms aviation, aerospace, and autonomy-related sectors, higher education must adapt to meet evolving workforce demands. This session shares emerging findings from a nationwide study led by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, focused on employer perceptions of AI adoption, responsible use, and workforce preparedness in domains including uncrewed systems, space systems, robotics, and advanced air mobility. Based on a structured survey and follow-up interviews, the presentation explores how organizations are using AI tools, from generative platforms to enterprise systems, and defining effective and inappropriate use in operational contexts. Participants will gain insight into critical concerns (e.g., data privacy, compliance, security, …
A Capability Maturity Model For Artificial Intelligence Integration In Supply Chain Management, Lordt Becklines
A Capability Maturity Model For Artificial Intelligence Integration In Supply Chain Management, Lordt Becklines
Dissertations
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming Supply Chain Management (SCM), yet many organizations struggle to assess their readiness for AI adoption and to understand how AI capabilities develop across maturity stages. This dissertation addresses this gap by developing a Capability Maturity Model (CMM) for AI integration in SCM, grounded in Organizational Information Processing Theory (OIPT), the Resource-Based View, and related capability frameworks. The model provides a structured approach for evaluating an organization's information-processing requirements, resource configurations, and alignment needed for effective AI-enabled supply chain operations.
Using a design science research approach, the AI-SCM CMM and its associated assessment instrument were derived …
