Evaluating The Determinants Of Tourism Demand For Policy Implications: Insights From The Moroccan Case, Hakim Lakhlifi, Ghialy Yap
Evaluating The Determinants Of Tourism Demand For Policy Implications: Insights From The Moroccan Case, Hakim Lakhlifi, Ghialy Yap
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Purpose: This study aims to assess the key determinants influencing Morocco’s international tourism demand to guide the development of an effective national tourism policy aligned with the country’s 2023–2026 tourism roadmap. By analyzing tourist arrivals (TA) from 45 source countries between 2000 and 2022, the research identifies economic and non-economic factors critical to achieving the target of 17.5 million tourists. Priority areas include pricing, infrastructure, security, governance and climate risk resilience. Design/methodology/approach: Using a hypothetico-deductive and quantitative approach, the study applies dynamic panel data models, including the generalized method of moments, to account for endogeneity and unobserved heterogeneity. Key variables …

Driving Factors And Spatio-Temporal Evolution Of Tourist Accident Clusters In Chinese Outbound Tourism, Chaowu Xie, Kun Zhang, Jiangchi Zhang, Songshan Huang
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
The clustering of tourist accidents is a critical yet underexplored area of research. This study employs cluster theory and safety system theory to develop a comprehensive measurement tool for analysing tourist accident clusters, examining their spatiotemporal evolution patterns, and identifying the driving mechanisms from a holistic destination perspective. By analysing accident records of Chinese outbound tourists across 48 countries from 2011 to 2019, the findings reveal a reduction in disparities among tourist accident clusters (α-convergence effect) and a fluctuating trend over time. Spatial autocorrelation analysis identifies four distinct spatial distribution patterns: low-low (L-L), high-low (H-L), high-high (H-H), and low-high (L-H). …

Crisis Planning Intentions Among Hotel Managers: What Have We Learned From The Covid-19 Pandemic?, Feliani Tjong, Edmund Goh, Violetta Wilk
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
This study investigates the motivational factors which influence future crisis planning intentions, by utilising the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) as the underlying theoretical framework. This research focuses on understanding the attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control of hotel managers’ intentions regarding future crisis planning. To enhance the TPB model, the study incorporates two additional variables: perceived risk and past behaviour, thereby addressing previous calls to extend the TPB model. Employing a qualitative methodology, semi-structured interviews (n = 21) were conducted with hotel managers who worked at government-appointed quarantine hotels in Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thematic analysis was …
