Menus of the 21st Century
West is a modern take on a classic - a contemporary riff on a San Fran-style club restaurant. Beautifully lit, flattering and gleaming, with a sweet champagne bar, cosy booths and smooth dark wood, West is a proper restaurant, a grown-up room and a reminder of why some things in life are too good to change. Our belief is that by working with great local food producers, we can both impact on our region for the better and, at the same time, give you the opportunity to taste the true West of Ireland. Food Tourism In Cork’S English Market - An Authentic Visitor Experience, Lisa O'Riordan, Prof. Margaret Linehan, Aisling Ward
Irish Business Journal
Authenticity is deemed to be a crucial element in many tourism experiences. Tourism, however, is often accused of succumbing to notions of perceived authenticity to ensure commercial success, leading to misrepresentations of cultures. Food tourism, conversely, is advocated as a means of encountering genuine culture, history and lifestyle. This paper investigates the role of food tourism as an authentic representation of culture in Cork’s English Market. In-depth interviews were conducted with market traders and analysed through the grounded theory method. Results indicate that, allowing for natural evolution, food tourism is providing a platform for the continuation, sharing and development of …

Network Carriers’ Strategic Decision With Low Cost Carrier Entry, Tamilla Curtis
Network Carriers’ Strategic Decision With Low Cost Carrier Entry, Tamilla Curtis
Publications
Good decisions require that each decision-maker accurately predicts the strategic moves of the other parties. Dealing with prospective low-cost carrier (LCC) entrants is critical for global network airlines. This research focused on two main issues. First, it investigates competitive reaction by established US airlines when they face an LCC entrant in the less congested, small-sized US regional airports. Second, it examines which of the market indicators are most likely to influence airline fares out of small regional airports with the LCC entry. While the first stage of research demonstrated mixed results and did not discover any patterns in airline behaviour …

Waterparks' Impact On Rural Communities In Eastern Kentucky, Stephen M. Sims
Online Theses and Dissertations
As many rural communities are searching for ways to increase their local economy, several of these communities have begun to turn their attention to the tourism industry. By turning their attention to the tourism industry, they are searching for ways to increase tourism in hopes of bringing in additional revenue that is needed for revitalizing many of these communities. These rural communities are "focused on maximizing individual spending, and providing products and experiences as an incentive to tourists to stay longer and return on repeat visits" (Briedenhann & Wickens, 2004, p. 72). Also, waterparks, as well as amusement parks and …

Beer Tourism: Identifying Kentucky Brewery Visitors And Motivations, Kenneth Joseph Berend, Jr.

Craft beer has gained popularity and evolved into an immense industry in recent years. The number of breweries in the United States has increased from 1,460 in 2006 to over 5,300 in 2016 ("Number of breweries and brewpubs in U.S.," n.d.). There are more breweries now than at any other time in U.S. history. The influx of breweries has contributed to increased participation in craft beer consumption and beer tourism. Plummer, Telfer, Hashimoto, and Summers (2005) define beer tourism as "visitation to breweries, beer festivals and beer shows for which beer tasting and experiencing the attributes of a beer region …

Menus of the 21st Century
Some 25 years ago, long before Temple Bar was a glint in any property developer’s eye, Carol Walsh signed herself a lease in a tall, narrow building on a cobbled street just off the River Liffey, surrounded by artists' studios, record stores and comic shops. She kitted out the first floor with walls of mirrors and opened a dance and aerobics studio. Downstairs, she opened a vegetarian café called The Cellary. Later, in Dublin's clubbing heyday, Carol ran several underground clubnights in this ever-adaptable space. While her neighbouring building was being transformed into what is now Temple Bar Gallery, Carol …
