The low-cost carrier's model made remarkable gains across the globe in the prior decade, although growth was uneven domestically and intraregionally. Within this region, there are significant differences in overall country size, the size of the domestic aviation market, and the number of carriers serving the market. Do Tourism Clusters Contribute To Low-Carbon Destinations? The Spillover Effect Of Tourism Agglomerations On Urban Residential Co2 Emissions, Qiang Zhou, Shen Qu, Wanrong Hou
Management Faculty Publications
A burgeoning literature has investigated the relationship between tourism and regional CO2 emissions. However, the results are equivocal. Some scholars find that tourism induces more emissions, while others find that tourism benefits emission mitigation. Previous research suffers three deficiencies: (1) the CO2 emissions induced by tourism beyond the tourism sectors are neglected; (2) the role of tourism agglomerations in sustainable destination development is underrated; (3) the tripartite mechanism of tourism agglomerations, household income, and urban direct residential CO2 emissions (DRCEs) remains to be determined. Based on the theories of complex adaptive system and an empirical study of 30 provinces in …

Study On Visibility Promotion For Regional High-End Hotels Based On The Value Co-Creation Theory, Pingan Luo
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
Regional high-end hotels play a great leading role in industry communication, tourism, and consumer culture in the area where they are located. However, regional high-end hotels rely on the area’s industry background and economic development for their survival and operations. Hence, their brand influence seldom spread outside the area. As a result, the limitations of brand awareness have been challenging the rapid development of regional high-end hotels. The existing research has not come to a clear theoretical response to this challenge. To enhance research in this field, this paper grounded on value co-creation theory posed one core question and three …

Journal of Global Hospitality and Tourism
Hospitaleros who volunteer in the hostels along the Camino de Santiago have, to the best of our knowledge, not yet been examined, from the perspectives of voluntourism and pilgrimage research. This article aims to give an insight into a unique form of volunteering based on 32 interviews with hostel wardens conducted between 2017 and 2021. The results indicate that – while hospitaleros primarily indicate interpersonal motives for their service – the voluntary work serves as a kind of “substitute drug” to satisfy the longing for and dependence on the Camino. With increasing iterations, (1) the strength of the personal motives …

Assessing The Application Of -Weights And Structure Coefficients In Published Hospitality And Tourism Research, Millicent Njeri, Jeff Allen, Garrett Jennings

Multiple regression is one of the most powerful analysis techniques available to hospitality and tourism researchers for complex problems that may include prediction, mediation, and moderation. The interpretation of the results requires a two-step hierarchical approach. The first step is to determine whether the researcher has findings worth interpreting and reporting and the second step is to determine the effect(s) origins. This second step involves evaluating both the 𝛽-weights and structure coefficients. The purpose of this study is to examine the use of 𝛽-weights and structure coefficients while reporting univariate multiple regression results by hospitality and tourism researchers. …

Evidence Of Local Gastronomy In Rural Destinations: A Cross-European Study, Michael Vieregge
Journal of Global Hospitality and Tourism
In 2020, the Coronavirus pandemic led to domestic travel to rural destinations. Local gastronomy is key to tourists' expectations, perceptions, and images of rural destinations' authenticity. Empirical data supporting evidence of local gastronomy in rural communities are lacking. This archival research focused on n=549 Cittaslow and non-Cittaslow towns and cities in 19 European countries. Rural towns offer more local gastronomy than cities, and Cittaslow-certified towns more than non-Cittaslow. All rural towns should focus on expanding their local gastronomy, and Cittaslow cities even more so.
