This idea sheet is based on a 2018 gathering of 25 professional men at various stages in their careers, all of whom have committed to supporting and advancing women professionally. Understanding that male engagement is critical in reducing workplace gender imbalances, these suggestions focus on what men can do in professional settings to create awareness, rethink systems, build capacity (in both women and men), foster developmental relationships, and advocate for necessary cultural change.

Purpose of the Study: Given the similarities between influencing others when teaching and when selling, this work explores student perceptions of selling techniques used by professors. This work investigates faculty instructional methods informed by the prospecting and follow-up sales process’s steps to positively affect student perceptions, and to attract and retain students in online and traditional formats. Selling efforts are developed, described, and examined to see how prospecting and follow-up can be used to increase course learning, retention, and subsequent course enrollment.

'Choral Collage'
JOHNSON CITY – The choral ensembles of East Tennessee State University’s Department of Music will open their fall concert season with a “Choral Collage” on Friday, Oct. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church.
The concert will feature a wide range of styles, from Renaissance to contemporary. Composers include Antonio Lotti, Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert, Halsey Stevens, Dale Trumbore and “more that no one will know,” says Dr. Matthew Potterton, an associate professor who serves as chair of the department and director of choral and vocal activities.

JOHNSON CITY – Artists Cheryl Goldsleger and Larry Millard sifted through several hundred entries to make selections for this year’s “FL3TCH3R Exhibit: Social and Politically Engaged Art” at East Tennessee State University’s Reece Museum, which runs through Dec. 14.
Goldsleger and Millard will share their insights on the exhibit and the art of social and political expression on Thursday, Nov. 1, in a jurors’ talk at 5 p.m. in Reece Museum. The 2018 “FL3TCH3R” awards ceremony and reception will follow at 6 p.m.

Meet Grace Ivy
Grace Ivy is a third-year physical therapy student at ETSU. The Memphis native came to Johnson City after first earning her bachelor’s degree in Knoxville and then falling in love with the Tri-Cities region. Scheduled to graduate from the ETSU College of Clinical and Rehabilitative Health Sciences as a physical therapist in December, Ivy found herself leaving the country for the first time ever earlier this year as part of an interprofessional service trip to Costa Rica. She has also found herself immersed in her latest endeavor – woodworking.

JOHNSON CITY – Things are about to get spooky in East Tennessee State University’s Mathes Hall.
The ETSU Department of Music will host a Haunted House on Saturday, Oct. 20, throughout the building.
A Kids’ Hour will be held from 6-7 p.m. Lights will be on, and a clown, superheroes and princesses will be on hand to interact with the young folks. Admission during this time is free, and $5 suggested donations will be accepted.

JOHNSON CITY — The George L. Carter Railroad Museum at East Tennessee State University will feature the railroads of the South on Saturday, Oct. 27. The Heritage Days program, scheduled on the final Saturday of each month, will present not only the legendary Southern Railway, but the many lines of the Southeast, from the Carolinas to Florida and outward to New Orleans.

This study analyzes the impact of the Miles Trade business in the Brazilian airline industry. This is linked some factors: economy recession, cultural traces, legal flaws and new technologies that led to the creation and growth of the Miles Trade business in Brazil. The impacts over airlines are related to loyalty weakening between customers and airlines and revenue dilution due to the lower prices of air tickets sold in miles. Exploring The Sources Of Design Innovations: Insights From The Computer, Communications And Audio Equipment Industries, Sujan M. Dan, Brian I. Spaid, Charles H. Noble
Marketing Faculty Research and Publications
Whereas business research has focused on the impact of design innovations on market response and financial performance, the sources of design innovations, as opposed to those of technological innovations, have largely escaped investigation. In this research, we examine the organizational, financial, and environmental drivers of design innovations and how they contrast to technological innovations. Our study utilizes a unique dataset encompassing a 10-year window of innovation output drawn from the computer, communications, and audio and video equipment manufacturing industries. Our results suggest that design innovations are driven primarily by investments in research and development and slack organizational resources. Interestingly, we …
