Purpose – In response to today’s marketplace in which many Asian brands are trying to expand their businesses into Western nations, this study investigated the strategic use of cultural authenticity that Asian brands may employ for their success. Although the benefits of using cultural heritage in brand strategies have been noted by past literature, the efficacies of how Asian brands can use brand logo designs to positively influence their brand success have not been studied. The Role Of Leaders In Managing Envy And Its Consequences For Competition In Organizations, Theresa M. Floyd, Charles E. Hoogland, Richard R. Smith

Management and Marketing Faculty Publications

Leaders in organizations face numerous challenges. Among these is helping employees cope with the fact that, over time, some in the organization will succeed and some will fail, leading to potentially disruptive emotions. One of the leader’s roles is to understand and manage these emotions to ensure they do not result in negative interpersonal or organizational outcomes. Further, through their words and deeds, leaders can foster a culture in which more positive emotional reactions to others’ fortunes are more likely to occur, ultimately benefitting the individuals involved and the organization as a whole. Although there are numerous possible reactions to …

Speaking Of Urgent Care Centers: Language Matters, Sayeedul Islam, Michael H. Chetta, Andrzej Kozikowski, Samantha Misner

Department of Behavioral Science Publications and Research

With the adoption of the Affordable Care Act, it is necessary for health care facilities to focus on patient perceptions and care experience. The urgent care industry has grown exponentially as demand for more accessible patient services has increased. There is little research on how patients perceive their care experiences and what influences their satisfaction in the urgent care setting. The present study proposes a series of research questions exploring the relationship between language and ratings of urgent care facilities. This study aimed to: (1) identify which words were tied to patient experience, (2) identify the language used by satisfied …

This study considers a set of 67 countries to study whether PLs sharesconverge globally and if so to what long-run level PL shares in 60 product categoriesare expected to converge. The authors draw upon the economic convergenceliterature to establish an empirical specification that measures long-run PL sharedifferentials relative to a stabilized reference country. As such, they use the notionof β-convergence, taking place when countries with an initially lower PL level growfaster than countries already closer to a common steady state.

The innovative aspect of this study is that the experiment took place at participants’ home. The post-preparation survey used a payment card approach to elicit WTP for each product tried as well as for the hypothetical third product not tried. A total of 101 out of 102 participants (99.01%) completed the process and returned the survey. Participants were instructed to prepare the products at home, sample the prepared product, and then evaluate the product and …

Imsa360: 2016, Imsa Fund

IMSA Fund Reports

About ten years ago I tried to explain to my wife what made IMSA such an important, life-changing place for me. That explanation turned into a 329 page novel (my first published young adult novel), that I still think only scratched the surface of what makes IMSA such a wondrous, rare, and crucial place.

Economic Considerations Of Aggressively Treating The Influenza Virus In Equines, Charlotte R. Hansen

Theses and Dissertations--Agricultural Economics

The equine influenza virus is a significant cause of respiratory disease in horses. Even though horses generally recover from this virus, sometimes horses with equine influenza develop secondary bacterial infections which can cause severe pneumonia, thereby increasing recovery times. Owners and managers are faced with the decision of whether to delay preventative treatment in hopes of the horse avoids contracting a secondary bacterial infection (“wait and see”) or aggressively treat the horse with an antibiotic in hopes of avoiding a serious infection (“treat now”). From a decision making standpoint, the economic considerations include explicit treatment costs as well as nonmonetary …

Performance Factors That Influence Marketing Measurement In Successful Small Businesses, Tareion M. Fluker

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

During the 2009 economic recession, United States business leaders cut marketing expenditures between 33% and 50% more than they did for any other business expenditure to mitigate financial loss because business leaders often regard marketing as an expense and not an investment. Since there is not a widely applied marketing measurement standard, this multiple-case study focused on finding key performance indicators that healthcare and sales small business leaders in eastern United States with less than 500 employees, and marketing evaluation practices in place, used to evaluate the effectiveness of their marketing. Institutional theory was used as the conceptual framework to …
