JOHNSON CITY — (Oct. 14, 2020) East Tennessee State University has announced that Commencement exercises for fall 2020 graduates, scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12, will be held virtually.
This decision was based on guidelines from the CDC, state and local health agencies, as well as recommendations from ETSU’s COVID-19 Medical Response Team. The unique circumstances presented by the COVID-19 outbreak has continued to present challenges in the university’s ability to host large-scale events. Holding the celebration virtually will prevent thousands from gathering in the ETSU Ballad Health Athletic Center (Mini Dome).

Multiple campus walking tours are offered weekdays for groups of 12 or fewer, each led by an Expedition Leader. JOHNSON CITY (Oct. 12, 2020) – The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has awarded East Tennessee State University’s Dr. Chuanfu Li a $2.19 million R01 grant to research the role of lactate in sepsis-induced cardiovascular dysfunction.
Li is a professor in the Department of Surgery at Quillen College of Medicine and is also a member of the ETSU Center of Excellence in Inflammation, Infectious Disease, and Immunity (CIIDI). He was recently named one of the inaugural Quillen Distinguished Research Fellows.

Access ETSU is a two-year, non-degree program for individuals with intellectual disabilities who are seeking to enhance their academic, career development and social skills and experiences in a way that is identical to their peers at the university.
