JOHNSON CITY (Feb. 10, 2021) – A summer research program at East Tennessee State University’s Quillen College of Medicine led to an opportunity for medical students to gain COVID-19 research experience.

Dr. Donald Hoover, professor in the Department of Biomedical Sciences, mentored two second-year medical students, Fulton Robinson and Ryan Mihealsick, during Quillen’s Medical Student Summer Research Program held last summer. The students had the opportunity to participate in the conception, planning, implementation and publication of research focusing on cardiac morbidity and mortality related to COVID-19 infection.

JOHNSON CITY (Feb. 9, 2021) — East Tennessee State University’s Board of Trustees will hold its quarterly meeting and several committee meetings on Friday, February 19.

All meetings will be conducted in person at the Martin Center for the Arts. Attendance will be limited to Trustees, presenters and support staff. All meetings will be livestreamed for public viewing.

JOHNSON CITY (Feb. 5, 2021) – The Roan Scholars Leadership Program has selected eight high school seniors for the incoming Roan Class of 2025. Those students will join 24 returning Roan Scholars at East Tennessee State University this fall as part of the prestigious four-year scholarship program.

JOHNSON CITY –  (Feb. 3, 2021) A faculty member at East Tennessee State University is participating in a major research project helping persons with disabilities transition from the K-12 environment to new settings such as independent living, employment or post-secondary education.

ETSU is part of the National Technical Assistance Center on Transition for Students and Youth with Disabilities, an initiative led by the University of North Carolina-Charlotte that also includes researchers from George Washington University, University of Kansas, Portland State University, University of Maryland and University of Oregon. JOHNSON CITY (Jan. 30, 2021) – East Tennessee State University is providing free drop-in COVID-19 testing at various campus locations for students, faculty and staff two days a week through the end of April.

The initiative is an effort to increase access for asymptomatic testing. No appointment is necessary and testing locations include Sherrod Library, D.P. Culp Student Center, Governors Hall and Basler Center for Physical Activity (CPA). Free drop-in testing is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Locations, dates and times are subject to change. An up-to-date schedule is available at etsu.edu/covidtesting.
