This paper investigates cultural differences between Chinese and American project managers in the IT industry through a pilot study of interviewing six professional project managers with qualitative and quantitative questions. The interview questions were developed to compare core Chinese values and cultural styles with American cultural styles. Initial results found that Chinese and American project managers in the IT industry have similar ideas regarding resistance to corruption but have differences toward the idea of trustworthiness, harmony, avoiding confrontation, and non- competition.

Opioid analgesics continue to be the mainstay of pharmacologic treatment of moderate to severe pain. An adjunct is a drug that in its pharmacological characteristic is not identified primarily as an analgesic, but that has been found in clinical practice to have either an independent analgesic effect or additive analgesic properties when used with opioids. By using an adjunct to maximize the level of analgesia, the required opioid dosage may be reduced, together with concomitant adverse effects. In this paper, nine provinces, namely Qinghai, Sichuan, Gansu, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Shaanxi, Shanxi, Henan, and Shandong in the Yellow River Basin (YRB), are taken as the research objects. Through the analysis of input-output tables of 30 provinces in China in 2012, the characteristics of virtual water trade in this region are estimated by using a multi-regional input-output (MRIO) model. A meta-analysis of oncology papers from around the world revealed that cancer patients who lived more than 50 miles away from hospital centers routinely presented with more advanced stages of disease at diagnosis, exhibited lower adherence to prescribed treatments, presented with poorer diagnoses, and reported a lower quality of life than patients who lived nearer to care facilities. Connected health approaches—or the use of broadband and telecommunications technologies to evaluate, diagnose, and monitor patients beyond the clinic—are becoming an indispensable tool in medicine to overcome the obstacle of distance.

This study examines how the Twittersphere talked about candidates running for the U.S senate in the 2018 congressional elections. We classify Twitter users as Liberal or Conservative to better understand how the two groups use social media during a major national political election. Using tweet sentiment, we assess how the Twittersphere felt about in-group party versus out-group party candidates. When we further break these findings down based on the candidates’ gender, we find that male senatorial candidates were talked about more positively than female candidates. A manufacturer commonly distributes through a set of retailers who are authorized to sell its product; demand-enhancing services may also be provided by the manufacturer. These services may be granted to all authorized retailers (uniform service provision) or to a favored few authorized retailers (differential service provision). To determine when a manufacturer does—or does not—bestow equal service levels, we develop a model of one manufacturer selling through two competing retailers. We find manufacturer optimality to entail uniform service at some parametric values, while differential service is optimal at other values.
