Budgeting Apps, Financial Literacy And Financial Distress: Evidence From U.S. Households, Max Ngenzi Masabo
Posters - 2026
• First, it provides the first large-scale, nationally representative evidence on how budgeting app usage relates to household financial distress in the United States. Contrary to the intended purpose of these tools, we find that app users, especially frequent users, experience significantly higher levels of financial strain. • Second, we show that financial literacy is a critical moderating factor. The adverse association between budgeting apps and financial distress is substantially stronger among low-literacy individuals, highlighting financial literacy as an essential safeguard against harmful fintech outcomes. • Third, we identify behavioral mechanisms through which budgeting apps may exacerbate financial difficulties. App …

INTRODUCTION
Why create a book containing nothing but accounting problems?
The genesis of an idea is often difficult to recall, but I can trace the creation of this project to a single sentence found in a specific book. One recent summer, to help prepare myself for the upcoming academic year, I began reading Why Don’t Students Like School? by Daniel T. Willingham. On page 16 of the dog-eared copy I acquired on the Internet, I was drawn to a key sentence like a moth to a flame. The words were buried rather unobtrusively within a long paragraph but, for me, …

Sistema De Costos.

Fixed Income Mathematics, Kenneth S. Bigel
Open Touro Created
2025
Bond Math is at the center of the functioning of the bond markets, yet this critical sub-finance discipline is usually not accessible to the typical investor. This is an approachable study of the mathematical theories underlying Fixed Income instruments. It is not a study of bonds per se or the bond markets. The text commences with a basic review of the time value of money, i.e., the theory of compound interest. It then proceeds to discuss how bond prices and yields are determined. Next, it covers the relationships between bond prices and general movements of interest rates in the …
The Influence Of Money In Politics, Aminata Dieng
The Influence Of Money In Politics, Aminata Dieng
Undergraduate Research Symposium Podium Presentations
Money plays a powerful role in shaping political outcomes by significantly influencing who gets elected and which policies are prioritized. Campaign financing, which includes donations from individuals, corporations, and Political Action Committees (PACs), often determines a candidate's visibility, resources, and ability to compete effectively. Those with greater financial backing tend to dominate media coverage and reach more voters, which can tip the scales in elections.

The Role Of Money In Elections, Brandon Nabbefeld
The Role Of Money In Elections, Brandon Nabbefeld
Undergraduate Research Symposium Posters
What if your vote mattered less than a millionaire’s donation? In every election cycle, billions of dollars flow into campaign war chests but what does that mean? Let’s follow the money and see who is truly influencing our elections. Money plays a powerful role in shaping electoral outcomes and public policy in democratic systems. In the United States, campaign funding has become increasingly dominated by large donations. This is because in 2010, Citizens United v. FEC decision opened the doors for unlimited independent political spending, sparking widespread concerns about fairness, transparency, and the influence of wealthy donors in politics.

Effect Of Stakeholder Capitalism After The 2019 Business Roundtable Pledge, Maximiliano Villarreal-Castro
Effect Of Stakeholder Capitalism After The 2019 Business Roundtable Pledge, Maximiliano Villarreal-Castro
Poster Presentations
There has been a shift towards a new model of corporate operation, one which prioritizes not only the company shareholders but anyone affected by its operations, i.e., stakeholders. Although many believe this is a path towards a more equitable future, others fear it could cause agency issues. As a result, companies that focus on ESG/Stakeholder Capitalism may experience the adverse effects of slow growth, costing shareholders, employers, and employees in the long term.
To determine if there was an impact from 'The Shift' to an ESG model by the major corporations, this study compared internal (accounting) and external (market) data. …

The Behavioral Economics And Politics Of Global Warming: Unsettling Behaviors, Hersh M. Shefrin
The Behavioral Economics And Politics Of Global Warming: Unsettling Behaviors, Hersh M. Shefrin
Faculty Book Gallery
The main goal of this Element is to provide a psychological explanation for why actual global climate policy is so greatly at odds with the prescriptions of most neoclassical economists. To be sure, the behavioral approach does focus on why neoclassical models are often psychologically unrealistic. However, in this Element the author argues that the unrealistic elements are minor compared to the psychological pitfalls driving politically determined climate policy. Why this is the case is what the author describes as the 'big behavioral question.' More precisely, the big behavioral question asks about unsettling behaviors, why there is a huge gap …

Exploring Occupational Therapy’S Role In Foster Care: A Mixed Methods Study On Financial Literacy Education For Foster Youth, Ashley Carmichael, Karen Park
Summer 2023 Virtual OTD Capstone Symposium
Background: Foster youth are children under 21 years old who have been removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse and are susceptible to early adversity and trauma (Alternative Family Services, n.d.; AOTA, 2017). Financial literacy is the knowledge and skills to take control of finances (National Financial Educators Council, n.d.). In the foster care setting, occupational therapists (OTs) provide client-centered care that traditionally focuses on transitional life skills, such as seeking employment (American Occupational Therapy Association [AOTA], 2017).
Problem/Purpose: The lack of resources for foster youth to gain financial literacy skills leads to a disadvantage in …

The Relationship Between Increased Wages And Nurse Satisfaction And Intent To Stay, Jean Andres
College of Health Sciences Posters
The recent COVID-19 pandemic contributed to a negative climate in healthcare and increased the workforce demands of nurses leading to decreased satisfaction and an unprecedented staffing crisis. Further compounding the problem, staffing agencies have offered fiscally lucrative contracts that enticed experienced nurses to leave permanent staff positions for external contract agency nursing.
Research Questions for this study are as follows:
- RQ1: What is the relationship between increased wages and nurse satisfaction?
- RQ2: What is the relationship between increased wages and intent to stay?
- RQ3: What is the relationship between demographic variables and nurse satisfaction?
- RQ4: What is the relationship demographic …
