The study aimed to identify the actual role being played by the top management of the Palestinian universities in Gaza Strip in developing the intellectual capital together with its various dimensions. To achieve this purpose, an exclusive questionnaire was randomly distributed to (344) supervisors, out of which (289) questionnaires were brought back, with a response rate of (84.01). The study used the descriptive analytical method and the appropriate statistical methods for analyzing the data using the SPSS. This study aims to determine the effect of social media marketing activities as seen from the dimen- sions of entertainment, interaction, trendiness, customization, and word-of-mouth, on brand trust, brand equity and brand loyalty conducted by Instagram social media. The study uses the Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) method with a sample of 617 respondents who are Indonesian residents ranging in age from 17 to 35 years and have used Instagram social media for a minimum of six months. The study aims to analyse how the ownership structure of a family company affects the company’s performance. The company’s performance was measured using Tobin’s Q to see how the market re- sponds to strategies and policies taken by the family company. The study took samples of 147 family companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange during 2009-2014. The results showed that the family company had significantly lower performance compared to non-family companies, but the relationship between ownership by the family is a quadratic in which there is a direction reversal at the 76% ownership rate. This study aims to determine the factors that influence voluntary turnover and how owners/ man- agers in SMEs conduct retention on their employees because the studies related to HR management in SMEs are still relatively few. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews with five own- ers /SME managers and 19 employees from five metal processing SMEs in Kebasen, Tegal. The treatment of chronic diseases consumes 86% of U.S. healthcare costs. While healthcare organizations have traditionally focused on treating the complications of chronic diseases, advances in information technology (IT) and analytics can help clinicians and patients manage and slow the progression of chronic diseases to result in higher quality of life for patients and lower healthcare costs.

We build on prior research to introduce the notion of temporal displacement of care (TDC), in which IT and analytics create healthcare value by displacing the time at which providers and patients make interventions to improve healthcare outcomes and reduce costs. We propose …

This paper is the first to investigate the role of work-life balance in financial analysts’ performance and career advancement. Using a large sample of Glassdoor reviews by financial analysts, we find a significant non-linear relation between work-life balance satisfaction and analyst performance and analyst career advancement. Specifically, when work-life balance satisfaction is relatively low, an increase in work-life balance is associated with better analyst performance and career advancement; however, when perceived work-life balance is already high, a further increase in work-life balance is associated with worse analyst performance and career advancement.

The Commonwealth of Kentucky sponsors three different pension retirement systems. This includes Kentucky Employee Retirement System, Teacher’s Retirement System, and Kentucky’s Judicial Form of Retirement System. Kentucky has one of the worst funded pension retirement plans and is currently facing shortfalls of about $43 billion (PEW, 2013). Between 1998-2008, Commonwealth of Kentucky’s legislators made many detrimental policy decisions that negatively affected its Pension Retirement System. The most impacting includes:

In order to assess the continuing imbalance of top executives between genders, I examine the effects of gender diversity within top management teams on firm risk, performance, and executive compensation. Capitalizing on previous analysis, I apply three unique differentiators. First, I utilize current data from 2012 to 2017 from Compustat, CRSP, and ExecuComp. Second, I provide a unique subset view on a firm and individual performance of female CEOs to examine executive compensation. Third, my scope of analysis expands to S&P Composite 1500 companies. Saving money should not be expensive. Compensation “clawbacks” are a legal mechanism for companies to reclaim employee compensation, but the legislative framework is complex and disorganized. There are four primary federal claw-back provisions: Sarbanes-Oxley § 304, Dodd-Frank § 954, 12 U.S.C.A. § 5221(TARP), and Dodd-Frank § 956—as well as voluntary contractual clawback policies. This comment untangles the web of clawback legislation by overlaying each clawback mechanism to extract a single, clear, and concise description of executive compensation clawbacks, called the “Comprehensive Clawback Coverage.” The Comprehensive Clawback Coverage reveals a major flaw in the legal and regulatory framework: clawbacks increase agency …

Purpose

Through an examination of the everyday organisational and social practices, this paper aims to consider gender performativity and hegemonic masculinity within front office investment management. At the core of this research is the need to understand the interactions between gender, power and patriarchy.

Design/methodology/approach

An interpretivist philosophical stance underpins the study. A theory-building approach using 19 semi-structured interviews with investment management employees based in Ireland was undertaken.

This pay discrepancy is driven by both the funds available to a district and by how these funds are allocated. There is a standard per student budget given to districts across the state, but this budget can be supplemented by additional property taxes collected on property within a district. Controlling costs is a critical ingredient in achieving profitability in the airline industry. Typically, labor costs are the first or second highest cost category for airlines. Some components of labor costs, such as pay and benefits, are easy to calculate. Turnover costs, however, are not easy to calculate, and are often underestimated. This paper builds a model for examining turnover costs for pilots in Part 135 carriers, and tests the model empirically in a Part 135 carrier.
