Beyond Sustainable: An Analysis Of The Visual Rhetoric Behind The Branding Of Christy Dawn, Megan Mccormick
Mahurin Honors College Capstone Experience/Thesis Projects
This research project offers insight into the visual rhetorical of design decisions made in the marketing materials of Christy Dawn, a sustainable fashion brand. Fashioning A Career, Sandra L. Staebell
Sandra L. Staebell
Mrs. A. H. "Carrie" Taylor evolved from a small town dressmaker to an entrepreneur who in the early years of the twentieth century ran a clothing factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. She lived during an era when professional opportunities for women were limited but took advantage of one area – dressmaking – that was respectable and turned it into a thriving business, eventually employing over 200 individuals, most of whom were female. For nearly forty years, she interpreted fashion trends, adapted to new methods for manufacturing and selling clothing, and became highly skilled in her marketing and promotional efforts, including …

Energy-Efficient Clothing, Interior Architecture And Furnishing Designs: Consumer Attitudes, Acceptability Levels And Preferences, Barbara Parks
Home Economics and Family Living Theses
Energy-efficient designs in clothing, interior architecture and furnishings were evaluated (a) to assess consumers’ attitudes toward the designs, (b) to compare acceptability levels of participants who were knowledgeable in the home energy field with those who were less knowledgeable and (c) to determine if consumers had a preference for using housing, clothing or furnishings in meeting their thermal comfort needs. Four designs generated by the University of Tennessee-Energy Design competition were evaluated: a leisure outfit, a lounging dress, a water-storage collector (room divider and coffee tables) and a solar waterbed. A Kentucky Dressmaker, Mrs. A.H. (Carrie) Taylor: An Examination Of Her Role In Fashion At The Turn Of The Century, Janice Centers
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
