As the world economy enters the twenty-first century, job and wealth creation is increasingly based on innovation and creativity that, in turn, can give rise to important intellectual property rights. For many companies and individuals these intellectual property rights may represent their most valuable assets, or in some cases, their only valuable assets. As a result, intellectual property rights increasingly play a critical the role in financing.

Although Islamic banking has been in operation fo r more than a decade in Malaysia, it's market share and growth seem to be quite limited and fa ll far short of earlier projection. This study attempts to investigate one type of Islamic banking product, that is project financing. This article reviews the corporate tax system within the context of the historical bias and current effects of the current system of taxation of corporations and shareholders. Drawing on public finance theory, financial markets microstructure research, and perspectives on corporate governance, Professor Rudnick proposes a profits tax on the liquid equity of firms. She finds this to be a normative rationale for a double tax system under optimal tax principles due to the inelasticity of demand for and supply of liquidity and the economic rent it produces. Investors are clamoring for companies to include more climate change risk disclosure in their periodic reports filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Yet public companies in the United States do a poor job of disclosing to investors how climate change affects their businesses. Although there have been several proposals for more voluntary disclosure of these risks and one petition for guidance from the SEC, these proposals are not effecting changes in disclosure practices quickly enough. This Article builds on existing proposals to create guidelines for mandatory climate change risk disclosure in periodic securities filings. The guidelines seek to …
