While previous research has explored how VIs contribute to brand image and awareness, there has been limited attention on how different types of VIs, both anime-like and human-like, affect consumer perceptions across different markets. The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate U.S. consumers’ perception and acceptance of a “culturally mixed” product – i.e., cultivated meat (beef) made with Korean seaweed components – a product that involves the blending of a foreign cultural element (Korean seaweed) with a local cultural element (cultivated beef) to create a mixed cultural representation. Subsequently, it aimed to assess if the product’s country of origin (i.e., South Korea) would influence consumer perception and acceptance. We examine the impact of transaction costs on the profitability of long-short portfolios of delta-hedged option returns. Of the 24 portfolio sort variables studied, 17 generate positive and significant gross returns, but none remain profitable after accounting for trading costs. We propose a cost-mitigation approach that restores profitability to 7 key portfolios. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the choice of delta-hedging frequency has a first-order impact on transaction costs. Our findings underscore the central role of implementation costs in shaping the investment opportunity set in equity–option markets, highlighting the need to account for transaction costs when evaluating option-based strategies.

The purpose of the study was to explore hiring managers’ experiences and knowledge of minority teacher recruitment. The primary research question for this study was: What strategies do hiring managers in the school district under study find most effective in overcoming barriers to recruiting minority educators, and how do they measure their success? This paper examines how generative AI (GenAI) tools such as ChatGPT respond when green-curious retail investors seek investment advice through unmediated, prompt-based interactions. Motivated by climate concern, these investors may lack financial or climate literacy and may prefer GenAI tools to human advisors, robo-advisors, or platform-integrated systems. Drawing from prior research on investor interactions with GenAI and on information critical for making green investment decisions, we conducted a prompt-based experiment using ChatGPT-4o and ChatGPT 5. This dissertation examines how Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) human capital configurations influence organizational sustainability performance through a configurational approach. Drawing on Upper Echelons and Human Capital theories, the study conceptualizes CSO human capital as encompassing both general (GHC) and sustainability-specific (SHC) dimensions that interact with job functions and governance mechanisms to shape outcomes. The theoretical framework proposes that SHC primarily influences non-financial sustainability performance (nfSP), while GHC drives financial sustainability performance (fSP). This dissertation addresses the underexplored micro-foundations of user consent when personal data is transferred wholesale to an acquiring firm. Credentialing dental assistants is presented as a method to enhance productivity and address workforce shortages; currently, only about 15% of Michigan dental assistants are Registered Dental Assistants (RDAs). A case study at Thunder Bay Community Health Service, an FQHC in Northern Michigan, illustrates success, where RDAs perform expanded functions—like placing restorations and monitoring nitrous oxide—boosting clinic productivity by 16%. The clinic supports its dental assistants by covering education and exam expenses and providing study time during work hours. This investment improves job satisfaction, confidence, morale, and patient communication among staff, strengthening employee retention.

This study examines how supply chain structure diversification drives high-quality enterprise development in the digital economy. Using panel data from Chinese listed non-financial firms (2009–2023), we find that diversification of both suppliers and customers significantly improves firms’ total factor productivity (TFP), and the results remain robust after controlling for endogeneity. Mechanism analyses show that diversification enhances innovation capability, sustainability performance, and risk resilience, while digital supply chains strengthen these effects by improving information flow and coordination. Heterogeneity tests reveal that the impact is greater for firms with higher operational efficiency, cultural synergy, and information transparency. Overall, the findings highlight that …
