Qëllimi i këtij studimi ishtë analizimi i marrëdhënies mes motivimit dhe performancës së punonjësve me efektivitetin organizativ në sektorin bankar. Për të realizuar këtë hulumtim u përdor metodologjia sasiore. Në studim u morën 65 punonjës nga katër banka që operojnë në Gjilan. Të dhënat u mblodhën me anë të 3 pyetësorëve dhe të dhënat u analizuan nëpërmjet programit statistikor SPSS. Rezultatet e korrelacionit treguan se midis motivimit të punonjësve dhe efektivitetit organizativ ekziston marrëdhënie e rëndësishme pozitive (r=.491, p<0.01). Gjithashtu marrëdhënie e rëndësishme pozitive eksiziton edhe mes performancës së punonjësve dhe efektivitetit organizativ (r=.699, p<0.01). Marrëdhënia mes performacnës dhe efektivitetit organizativ është më e fortë se mes motivimit dhe efektivietit organizativ. Rezultatet e analizës së regresionit treguan se motivimi t=2.89, p=.005 dhe performanca t=6.518, p=.000 kanë koefiçent statistikisht të rëndësishëm, që do të thotë se si motivimi edhe performanca e punonjësve janë koefiçentë statistikisht të rëndësishëm në vlerësimin e efektivitetit organizativ.

Over the past decade, motivation research has focused on what motivates employees to engage in behaviors that fall outside of ones' job/task requirements and bring about meaningful change in the organization's environment, proactive behaviors (Bateman & Crant, 1993; Crant, 2000). Recently, regulatory focus theory has received considerable research attention because of its potential to explain additional variance in behavior beyond other motivational constructs. The following report is our development program for the 2.17 – acre site in the Central Eastside Industrial District currently owned by Prosper Portland. Our proposal consists of three half blocks housing a CLT building and dual-block office hub named Portland Innovation Center. We believe this unique site can be molded into a next-generation “factory” becoming ground zero for creative collaboration and product development on the Eastside while producing solution-oriented ideas and citywide connections.

Using a unique set of hand-collected data, this study investigates the association of (1) the presence of an Internal Audit Function (IAF) and (2) the use of quality assurance programs for the IAF with financial reporting quality in public sector organizations. Specifically, I examine if the presence of IAFs and the use of quality assessments therein is associated with the presence of financial statement audit reportable conditions and restatements in municipalities in the U.S. Results indicate that both the presence of an IAF and use of external quality programs therein are positively associated with financial statement audit reportable conditions related …

We study whether the innovation decisions of a firm are improved as a result of information reflected in the firm's stock price. We show that firms with more informative stock prices, as measured by price nonsynchronicity, have better innovation outcomes, as measured by the number of patents and patent citations. Our results are not driven by managerial private information and are robust to various alternative specifications. We also find that price informativeness is more important to innovation when managers are less experienced or face greater uncertainty about the optimal innovation strategy, and that these effects are primarily observed in small- …

Labor Unions And Occupational Safety: Event-Study Analysis Using Union Elections, Ling Li, Shawn Rohlin, Perry Singleton

This study examines the dynamic relationship between union elections and occupational safety among manufacturing establishments. Data on union elections come from the National Labor Relations Board, and data on workplace inspections and accident case rates come from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. The results indicate that union elections improved occupational safety. First, workplace inspections trended upwards before the election, then decreased immediately after the election, due almost entirely to employee complaints. Second, accident case rates were relatively stable before the election, then trended downwards after the election, due to accidents involving days away from work, job restrictions, and job …

Improving Accuracy With Forecast Combination: The Case Of Inflation And Currency In Circulation In Nigeria, Alvan E. Ikoku, Chukwunonso T. Okany

This study shows how the application of forecast combination improves the accuracy of forecasts of economic variables. Using data from January 2009 to December 2014 on the Nigerian inflation rate, and forecasts of currency in circulation (see Ikoku, (2014)) as examples, we find that by combining forecasts of both variables using the regressionbased method, the mean absolute percent errors of the combined forecasts were lower than the forecast errors from the individual models of the variables.

The present study seeks to examine empirically whether exposure to international trade creates or destroys jobs for a sample of eight ASEAN+3 countries (APT). The findings of the PMG technique shows that trade liberalization policies have a negative influence on unemployment rate in the long run. Since medium and unskilled workers are the majority of the workforce, a reduction in trade barriers is likely to expand the trading sector. For the APT countries to compete globally, the trading sector is likely to shift to a more efficient production mode by using intensive capital and high skilled labor, leaving unskilled workers …

This study aims to determine the indirect impact of transformational leadership on two job related outcomes: general job satisfaction and intention to quit, by integrating sequential mediating mechanisms of employees’ perceptions toward the job (i.e., the experience of meaningful work) and employees’ perceptions toward own self (i.e., employee engagement) as underlying mechanisms to understand transformational leadership impact in the Australian context. The Artful Aging workshop participants created these original photographs in 8 weeks of study with Katie Sheffield, ETSU Visual Resources Curator, using film-based darkroom developing and printing techniques.

The new export-oriented foreign direct investment (FDI) regime of the 1950s was an interparty government initiative that facilitated the later Whitaker and Lemass-led dismantling of protectionist trade barriers. The potential opposition of protectionist-era industry to the new regime was defused by confining the new tax relief to profits derived solely from exports, by allocating new industrial grants only to firms that ‘would not compete in the home market with existing firms’, and by retaining the Control of Manufactures Acts of the 1930s that imposed restrictions on foreign ownership. The desire of risk-averse households to hedge rent risk is thought to increase home ownership and prices. While evidence for the ownership implication is compelling, support for the price effect is mixed. We show that an important reason is search frictions. Rent risk reduces outside options, leading to less-picky buyers and worse home/buyer matches. This attenuates the rise in the price-to-rent ratio that would otherwise occur without frictions. Consistent with our model, a house remains on the market for fewer days when rent risk is higher. Accounting for frictions significantly increases the effect of rent risk on home prices.

Many researchers have studied different strategies of statistical arbitrage to provide a steady stream of returns that are unrelated to the market condition. Among different strategies, factor-based mean reverting strategies have been popular and covered by many. This thesis aims to add value by evaluating the generalized pairs trading strategy and suggest enhancements to improve out-of-sample performance. The enhanced strategy generated the daily Sharpe ratio of 6.07% in the out-of-sample period from January 2013 through October 2016 with the correlation of -.03 versus S&P 500. There is growing public concern over the rapid growth in CEO pay relative to average worker pay (CEO pay ratio). Critics contend that high CEO pay ratios could destroy firm value by damaging employee morale and/or signal CEO rent extraction. In this paper, we use a proprietary dataset to examine the relationship between CEO pay ratio and firm value/performance. Contrary to critics’ arguments, we find that industry-adjusted CEO pay ratios are positively associated with both firm value and performance. We also find that high CEO pay ratios are associated with higher quality acquisitions and stronger CEO turnover-performance sensitivity. Our results …
