Performance Impacts Of Extent Of Information Technology Usage, Adam S. Maiga, Fred A. Jacobs
Performance Impacts Of Extent Of Information Technology Usage, Adam S. Maiga, Fred A. Jacobs
Journal of International Technology and Information Management
The link between IT investment and firm performance is indirect due to the effect of moderating variables. Employing a sample of 589 manufacturing firms based in the U.S., building on resource- and knowledge-based theories and the marketing literature, we use structural equation modeling to investigate the relationship between firm extent of IT usage, knowledge acquisition from customers and suppliers, competitive advantage and firm financial performance. Our results indicate that firm extent of IT usage positively impacts both knowledge from both customers and suppliers, which positively affect firm competitive advantage that, in turn, positively impacts firm financial performance. Further, our results …

It Alignment With Business Strategies In Healthcare Organizations: An Empirical Analysis, Zach G. Zacharia, David S. Preston, Chad W. Autry, Charles W. Lamb
Journal of International Technology and Information Management
This paper describes a study that assessed the performance implications of aligning information technology (IT) strategy to overall business strategy across a variety of health care organization (HCO) structures. We obtained survey results from senior executives of 178 hospitals to identify key configurations of IT strategic practices, business strategy and HCO structures. Using K- means cluster analysis, we identified which business strategies correlate strongly with certain IT strategy types. Our results indicate that HCOs achieve superior performance through unique combinations of business and IT strategy, suggesting that correctly aligning these strategies is a critical decision for healthcare organizations.

Journal of International Technology and Information Management
This paper identifies important performance measurements for the operation of CRM units in the call center industry, and then uses Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) to compare the performances of a selected set of call centers. The results provide several managerial insights that will assist CRM managers in effective decision making, especially in the areas of increasing efficiencies and improving customer service. Using System Dynamics Approach To Construct A Performance Measurement Model For Pharmacy Supply Chain Management, Jiinpo Wu, Charlie C. Chen, Ray Tsai
Using System Dynamics Approach To Construct A Performance Measurement Model For Pharmacy Supply Chain Management, Jiinpo Wu, Charlie C. Chen, Ray Tsai
Journal of International Technology and Information Management
A credible performance measurement system is imperative to evaluate SCM systems effectiveness. However, commonly accepted measurements for evaluating pharmacy supply chain management (SCM) are yet to be developed. This study models the dynamic behavior of pharmacy supply chains to include managerial policies and performance measuring systems based on a well-established theoretical framework. The system dynamics methodology is adopted to simulate three scenarios: (1) demand forecasting policy, (2) market need, and (3) manufacturing errors. Simulation results lead to important policy implications of pharmacy SCM.
Omitted Variable Bias In The Link Between Planning And Performance, Kirk C. Heriot, Noel D. Campbell, R. Zachary Finney
Omitted Variable Bias In The Link Between Planning And Performance, Kirk C. Heriot, Noel D. Campbell, R. Zachary Finney
New England Journal of Entrepreneurship
This article argues that existing research poorly specifies the link between planning and performance because of omitted variable bias. Researchers agree planning is a critical part of creating any new venture. Many researchers assess planning by whether a small firm has a written business plan. Unfortunately, efforts empirically to validate this relationship have been inconclusive. This article proposes that researchers should assess business plans both on the quality of the plan (and the planning process that produced it), and on the quality of the underlying business opportunity. Failure to account for both aspects of a business plan amounts to omitted …
The Impacts Of Conflicts On Requirements Uncertainty And Project Performance, Houn-Gee Chen, James J. Jiang, Jun-Cheng Chen, J T. Shim
The Impacts Of Conflicts On Requirements Uncertainty And Project Performance, Houn-Gee Chen, James J. Jiang, Jun-Cheng Chen, J T. Shim
Journal of International Technology and Information Management
Conflict is a pervasive phenomenon that permeates information systems development and implementation. The literature has indicated that conflicts, due to their association with negative emotion, will negatively influence IS project development, even after controlling for the effects of conflict management and resolution; however, the negative emotional characteristic of conflict alone has a limited explanatory power of IS project success. The purpose of this study is to provide additional insight, by including requirement uncertainty as the mediator variable, of the impacts of conflicts on project performance. Surveys were sent to Taiwan’s top 1600 companies and the results support the hypotheses. The …

These include the lingering problems of import dependence, reliance on a single economic sector-oil, weak industrial base, low level of agricultural production, a weak Private sector, high external debt overhang, inefficient public utilities, low quality …
How Many Acres Per Hour?, J G. Drever
How Many Acres Per Hour?, J G. Drever
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
MANY farm tractor operators don't know exactly how much land is covered in an hour by implements drawn by their tractors. This information, useful on any farm where tractors are used, is of particular value in contract work.
The capacity of the machine or implement, or in other words, its rate of working, depends on the width of the machine, how fast it travels, how efficiently it is operated and the time it works.
