JOHNSON CITY (August 4, 2021) —Beginning this fall, a new Changemaker minor will be offered through the Honors College at East Tennessee State University. The Changemaker Scholars minor is an update and revision to the current Presidential Honors Community Service Scholars program for which it replaces. The first cohort of 25 Changemaker Scholars was selected in spring 2021.
The purpose of the new minor is to engage students to think about and work on problems at a more systemic level and to develop innovative, sustainable, scalable, and measurable solutions.

JOHNSON CITY – (August 4, 2021) The annual MATE ROV Competition World Championship is Aug. 5-7 at East Tennessee State University. Some of the brightest minds from around the globe will compete with remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) they designed and built both in-person and through telepresence.
After the 2020 competition was cancelled due to COVID-19, this year’s championship has been reimagined to include an in-person event on the ETSU campus, a telepresence competition requiring video submissions of ROVs performing tasks and virtual presentations, and a MATE Virtual Reality World. JOHNSON CITY – ETSU Health will continue to offer free COVID-19 vaccines throughout September on the campus of East Tennessee State University.
In addition to the one-dose Janssen Johnson & Johnson vaccine, ETSU Health will offer first, second or third (for moderately to severely immunocompromised people) doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, which this week became the first COVID-19 vaccine to receive approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

JOHNSON CITY – East Tennessee State University’s Community Health Centers, managed by the College of Nursing, received approximately $1.9 million in grant funding from the Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) that will help provide continued and enhanced health care services throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.

Yesterday afternoon, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced new recommendations regarding face coverings for fully-vaccinated individuals. This guidance comes in the wake of growing concerns over the Delta variant of COVID-19 and declining vaccine uptake rates.
