Bill Clinton was the United States of America’s (U.S.) 42nd President, and his rhetoric set the tone of U.S. political climate for years following his presidency. Due to the power that a president possesses, a president’s presence and statements are frequently analyzed. It is clear, however, that there is a lack of research completed on presidential rhetoric. Upon this realization, I reflected on my previous areas of research; one of those areas was the first term presidential rhetoric of Clinton. Kentucky Folklife Program project titled: “Ohio River Survey,” which includes interviews, tape logs, photographs and other documentation of folklife along the Ohio River in Illinois, Indiana and Kentucky. Interviews may include a description of belief, traditional occupation, practice, craft, or tool, informant’s name, age, birth date, and address.

Undated solicitation letter (ca. 1933) from Spalding Laundry & Dry Cleaning Co., Louisville, Kentucky, for its Daily Infant Laundry Service. Includes a booklet for recording infant weight and height and providing diet guidelines for the first twelve months. The letter bears the National Recovery Administration’s “blue eagle” symbol.

Manuscript Collection Finding Aids

Finding aid only for Manuscripts Collection 649. Five account books for a grist mill and saw mill located in East Fork, Metcalfe County, Kentucky, as well as logging operations. The account books list wages paid for daily work as well as for piece work (handles). Employees were sometimes paid in cash, but most of the wages were paid in flour, mill, or other general store goods. Some of the accounts are for customers, not employees.

This research is on the relationship between employees and employers and seeks to determine the relationship between the values held by employees and the extent business leaders adapt their business practices to each of these values. By understanding this relationship, business leaders can gain insight into the improvement of both employee and supervisor success for the vitality of the organization.
