Bibliometric Analysis Of Academic Publications On Tourism And Humor, Omur N. Timurcanday Ozmen, Songul Gokhan

Journal of Mediterranean Tourism Research

The aim of this study is to examine academic publications related to tourism and humor by using bibliometric analysis method. Research data were collected using the Elsevier Scopus bibliometric database. In this context, 90 data, including articles, papers and book chapters at international level, were found in the search carried out on Scopus. Maxqda 2022 package program was used to analyze and visualize the obtained data. As a result, it was observed that publications on tourism and humor were relatively few between 1989 and 2007, and an increase in the number of publications between 2019-2022. I am pleased to present the third issue of Journal of Global Hospitality and Tourism (JGHT), Volume 2, Issue 1. This issue focuses on ensuring the journal’s scope and strengthening its position in both conceptual developments and practical applications in global hospitality and tourism through publication of five quality manuscripts and 2 academic viewpoints: five full papers that underwent rigorous double-blind reviewing, an academic viewpoint, and an industry viewpoint. The present issue of JGHT contains five full papers, written by fourteen authors located in four different countries and affiliated with eight different universities.

The coronavirus outbreak has resulted in a significant reduction in peoples’ movements, migration and trade at both local and global levels. Lockdowns and travel restrictions all over the world have led to a rapid retrenchment of the world’s hospitality and tourism sector. This is not new. Historically, catastrophes impacted human mobility. The combination of Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things (AIOT) have been developing as a prevalent technology for applications in many industries and buildings. This research deliberately chooses a leading hotel in the application of automation to examine the coverage of using the AIOT. A recent functional framework of AIOT was used to investigate the functional attributes via observation to confirm the availability. Then the study proceeded to interview with 10 professionals in the hospitality businesses to solicit their views about the implementation of the same AIOT facilities in other hotels based on the tabled analytical results.
