The purpose of this study was to understand the lived experiences of Jamaican Expatriate Female C-suite executives in the diaspora of working in Multi-national Companies (MNCs). Research indicates that workers spend the majority of their lifetime at work and that unresolved conflict is one of the largest reducible costs in organizations. The purpose of this study is to analyze the implications of social contagion in consumer boycotts from the angle of political movements, and the influence of politically charged causes on consumer boycotting behavior. We explore the central themes of discussion that appear in consumer social media talk about boycotts, as well as analyze the impact of political events on boycott movements, by using social media data and analytics from Twitter and Google Insights. Investors who seek to profit from depreciating currencies may invest in put options. Upon option exercise, the currency is sold at a high price, and then purchased at the lower future currency value, resulting in a gain for the put buyer. A series of such transactions yields a stream of income for the put investor. Alternatively, the investor could short sell the currency, reaping gains from the difference between the high short sale price and the low future purchase price. This paper presents a theoretical model to price foreign currency call options. Currency options are employed in international trade to reduce the risk of loss due to the reduction of revenues obtained in depreciating foreign currency for an exporter, or the escalation of expense from appreciating foreign currency for an importer. Other users include banks and hedge funds who engage in currency speculation. Given the fluctuation of option prices over time, the model describes the distribution of foreign currency as a Weiner process for macroeconomically constrained foreign currencies followed by a Laplace distribution for unconstrained currencies. This paper supplements the traditional security return model, by adding earnings yield to the risk-free rate, market risk, size, and book-to-market equity as predictors of security returns. Earnings yield is the ratio of net income to market price, so that it represents the segment of market price that depends upon operating performance of the firm, rather than market perception. This paper establishes a theoretical framework for the earnings yield construct, describing it as a predictor of return on assets, return on equity, economic value added, and the equity multiplier. A randomized controlled trial was conducted of a web-based intervention to improve advanced care planning in women with ovarian cancer. A secondary analysis of 35 randomized women focused on changes in distress and knowledge about ovarian cancer through distress monitoring and information tailored to patients' cognitive coping style (monitoring, blunting). Pre-/postresults indicated the Intervention group demonstrated lower distress (p = 0.06); blunting was associated with lower depression (p = 0.04); knowledge in both groups was unchanged. Women in the Intervention vs. Control group reported their family was less likely to be upset by cancer information (p = 0.0004). This intervention …

The common law tort of intentional infliction of emotional distress (IIED) is a frequently occurring lawsuit. It seems that in almost every wrongful discharge suit by a terminated employee at-will, or lawsuit to redress bullying-like conduct at work, or lawsuit pursuant to civil rights act for discrimination or harassment there appears a count for the IIED tort. This paper explores the determinants of share repurchase decisions within the context of a modern conceptual framework. Empirically, it categorizes such determinants by firm size, stage of the product life cycle, membership in the technology sector, ownership of overseas cash reserves, and institutional ownership. Share repurchases were used to boost earnings per share temporarily. Such effects dissipated over 1 year and 5 years. Certain categories of firms used share repurchase to grow through acquisitions, while others used share repurchase to prevent takeovers. The present analysis explores the impact of changes to state-level benefits in New Jersey (2009), Rhode Island (2013), and California (2004) on the number of children in foster care or adoption systems. Data from the Children's Bureau are combined with Census population estimates to produce yearly per-capita measures of adoption and foster care during 2007-2016. The effects of state-level benefits related with those federally mandated by the Family Medical Leave Act on foster care and adoption are explored, with suggestions made for future policy and research into various kinds of support for individuals providing fostering and adoptive care.

We find that both firm leverage and short-term debt ratios are negatively associated with social capital (i.e., the altruistic tendency and mutual trust among people within a community). This relation is more pronounced in cases where information asymmetry problems are more severe. Using alternative measures of key variables, addressing endogeneity issues, employing alternative model specifications, and simultaneously estimating leverage and short-term debt do not change our results qualitatively. Our results are consistent with the idea that social capital lowers the need for corporate borrowing mechanisms as a means to alleviate agency problems for firms, allowing reallocation of resources.

We examine the trading behavior of institutional investors in response to cash flow and discount rate news, conditional on their investment horizon. We find that shortterm institutions have a preference for trading around cash flow news, while long-term institutions prefer trading around discount rate news. We also find that short-term institutions sell on discount rate news, while long-term institutions buy on discount rate news. These news preferences are consistent with theories regarding the differing roles that short and long horizon institutions play in capital markets. Identification of potential individuals for leadership roles is a critical aspect of a succession management programme, as other aspects of the programme depend on an effective identification. This study evaluates how the University of Cape Coast (UCC) in Ghana identifies potential non-academic senior members for directorship roles. We collected qualitative data through in-depth interviewing of nine directors at the university. We analysed the data using constant comparison analysis by developing three themes, under each of which we presented similar categories of data. This paper focuses on the relationship between two important business indices: the degree to which a country's business is centrally regulated, and the level of business corruption perceived in that country. The main purpose and methodology is to analyze the data from 47 globally dispersed countries based on the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Product and Market Regulation Index and Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index from 2013. The statistical methodology using regression analysis demonstrates that there is a significant negative relationship between levels of perceived corruption and levels of regulation.
