Fearless Women Travellers: Religion And More, Antonietta Ivona, Donatella Privitera
International Journal of Religious Tourism and Pilgrimage
The term ‘pilgrim’ is derived from the notion of pilgrimage. Historically a pilgrim was as a person who walked to a shrine or holy place out of religious motivation. Also, the experience of pilgrimage embodies the pilgrim’s desire to seek or manifest his or her identity and value as a person. Using gender as a lens, women in all cultures, sometimes even without the ability to read or write, have found ways to travel in spiritual ways of knowing. The testimonies of women travellers go back a long way in the centuries; there are many who have challenged the risks …

Background: Low awareness about palliative care among the global public and healthcare communities has been frequently cited as a persistent barrier to palliative care acceptance. Given that knowledge shapes attitudes and encourages receptiveness, it is critical to examine factors that influence the motivation to increase knowledge. Health information-seeking from individuals and media has been identified as a key factor, as the process of accessing and interpreting information to enhance knowledge has been shown to positively impact health behaviours. Objective: Our study aimed to uncover public sentiments toward palliative care in Singapore. A conceptual framework was additionally developed to investigate the …

Organizing Digital Platforms And Customer Needs For Digital Service Innovation, Gamel O. Wiredu
The African Journal of Information Systems
Digital organizations have become highly dependent on digital platforms and customer needs as key resources for digital service innovation. These resources in the competitive environment are making and shaping innovation of digital services because, though external, they remain central to digital organizations’ strategic innovation and competitiveness. Yet, how and why organizing these resources influences digital service innovation is under-explained in the literature. This paper, based on an empirical study and grounded theory methodology, addresses this limitation. It explains that digital service innovation occurs through two complementary types of organizing, namely: foundational knowledge organizing by combining digital platforms and customer needs, …

Understanding Family Firm Intentions To Use Private Equity: A Theory Of Planned Behaviour Perspective, Chris Graves, Pi-Shen Seet, Anneleen Michiels
Understanding Family Firm Intentions To Use Private Equity: A Theory Of Planned Behaviour Perspective, Chris Graves, Pi-Shen Seet, Anneleen Michiels
Research outputs 2022 to 2026
Although past research suggests that family firms are less likely to use private equity (PE) financing, further research is required to identify the underlying reasons for such behaviour. Using the theory of planned behaviour and based on the analysis of data collected from 254 family firms, we identify the factors that explain a family firm's intentions to use PE. Family owners are more likely to plan to use PE when they have a favourable attitude toward PE, their intended succession strategy involves relinquishing control by selling the business sometime in the future, and they have a good understanding of PE.

Focusing on the roles of external advisors recruited by the firms, the study probes the details of the cyclical process and the mechanism through which networking logics are altered.
Design/methodology/approach – In this study the authors conducted a 3-year longitudinal multiple case study of …

Essays On Status Dynamics In Collectivistic Institutions, Eugene Yi Cheong Tung
Dissertations and Theses Collection (Open Access)
The essays reflect on the relationship between status hierarchies and institutional changes. In the course of accumulating social resources, high status actors lead and become the change in the institution; the relationship between the leaders and their communities is especially fascinating. A theory is proposed to explain the general patterns of status dynamics and an empirical test is conducted to partially test the theorized social relationships. This study highlights the strength of social governance in ensuring collective well-being in the course of never-ending changes in the institution.

Consideration Sets As Resources For Business Model Generation, E. Shaunn Mattingly, Garrett A. Mcbrayer
Management Faculty Publications and Presentations
Business models as outcomes for entrepreneurship are increasing in prevalence in pedagogy and practice. Instructors and entrepreneurs are focusing efforts on iterating potential ideas through a process of trial and error in hopes to produce working business models. However, such practices need to be better underpinned by theory so we can develop an understanding of how to identify more valuable opportunity ideas and how to progress them towards working business models with fewer trials and errors. This conceptual paper focuses on integrating extant conceptualisations of business models as interdependent activities with research on identifying opportunities as problem-solution pairings. While integrating …

We argued that population diversity affected these contributors; therefore, it helped to create economic growth.
From a human capital perspective, population diversity …
