With the rapidly growing importance of sustainability and corporate responsibility in a globalised world, management schools are increasingly integrating long-term economic, environmental and social issues into their teaching and research. This book provides teaching materials for a basic income taxation course dealing with the taxation of partnerships, corporations, S corporations, and limited liability companies. In addition, it alludes to a short list of other business enterprises. It can definitely be completed in the usual three hours assigned to such courses, on the assumption that students will spend two hours of preparation for each hour in the classroom.
The book begins with the study of partnerships, moves to C corporations, then to S corporations, then to limited liability companies. In general, the authors take a cradle-to-grave approach to each subject. Their …

Handbook For Promoting Foreign Direct Investment In Medium-Size, Low-Budget Cities In Emerging Markets, Vale Columbia Center On Sustainable International Investment, Millennium Cities Initiative
Columbia Center on Sustainable Investment Books
In November 2009, the Vale Columbia Center on Sustainable International Investment and the Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) released the Handbook for Promoting Foreign Direct Investment in Medium-size, Low-Budget Cities in Emerging Markets. With foreign direct investment (FDI) flows declining worldwide by an estimated 40-50% this year (following a decline of over 10% in 2008), investment promotion has become more important than ever: in a highly competitive world FDI market, promotion can make all the difference.
Investment promotion is particularly important for cities other than capital cities, as investors in manufacturing and services often locate primarily in a country’s capital …

Twenty years ago, Fortune 500 companies in the U.S. hired over seventy percent of college graduates. Today, Fortune 500 companies hire less than seven percent of college graduates and the entrepreneurial enterprises hire over 80 percent. More than forty percent of students start a business within one year of graduation. These businesses employ 55% of the total American work force. When we think of the entrepreneur, we often visualize the small business. While most, if not all, business ideas begin "small," a great deal of focus in placed upon entrepreneurial ideas that have grown into sizable corporations. In examining the …

Re-Visioning The Way We Work: A Heroic Journey, Ginger Grant
Books & Chapters
The tools of business are dynamic - capital, people, markets and ideas - all are living entities in a constant state of flux. To take these tools - to work with them and reorganize them in new and different ways to produce a positive effect in your life and your organization - is the essence of the creative process.
Based in archetypal psychology, this book provides a working methodology of personal individuation and corporate cultural transformation using the Hero's Journey Model developed by Joseph Campbell.
Taming The Sharks: Towards A Cure For The High Cost Credit Market, Christopher L. Peterson
Taming The Sharks: Towards A Cure For The High Cost Credit Market, Christopher L. Peterson
University of Akron Press Publications
Taming the Sharks: Towards a Cure for the High Cost Credit Market chronicles the historic, economic, legal, and political factors breeding America’s feverish high cost debt industry. The ideas presented are novel, progressive, and controversial. Historians have long argued that interest rates provide a sort of economic and political health of nations. If true, the contemporary American market for credit shows troubling signs of distress. While Federal Reserve Board monetary policy has kept commercial and prime consumer interest rates low, the past two decades have seen explosive growth in an industry specializing in high-cost consumer debt. Payday loan outlet chains, …
