Social Presence As A Predictor Of Social Construction Of Knowledge In Discussion Forums In Asynchronous Online Higher Education Courses, Austin Megli

Organization, Information and Learning Sciences ETDs

The three research papers completed and compiled to make up this dissertation explore the relationship between social presence and social construction of knowledge in asynchronous online discussion forums in higher education courses in the instructional technology field. Paper 1 is a literature review of the interaction analysis model (IAM) (Gunawardena et al., 1997) as a methodology, which is used to measure and determine the social construction of knowledge in online discussion forums. This literature review identified and highlighted the need to determine how the social environment of online learning influences the social construction of knowledge. This led to the second …

I Wish You Were Here: An Autoethnographic Study On A Story Of Grief And The Role Of Psychological Capital, Christina Albright Apr 2022

I Wish You Were Here: An Autoethnographic Study On A Story Of Grief And The Role Of Psychological Capital, Christina Albright

Organization, Information and Learning Sciences ETDs

We have all experienced grief. The death of a person or pet, the death of a relationship or end of a job, and even disappointments carry with them experiences of grief. Whenever someone or something dies, we try to make meaning of the situation to find some closure and move toward a new normal. Meaning making occurs as we tell our stories, share our experiences, and sort through memories. Qualitative research is much the same. In qualitative research one might hear, see, or experience a story, then sort through the details, looking for ways to explain and bring meaning and …

United Nations data shows that the size of global diaspora had reached 281 million in 2020, and it continues to grow. Diasporas have contributed significantly to the development of their native lands through remittance, technology and knowledge transfer, philanthropy, and diplomacy. Many countries have designed policies to engage the diaspora more deeply by providing concessional citizenship and visa regimes, and attractive investment opportunities. Yet, there is room for improvement in policies and programs to enhance these prospects.

Since the 2010s, the size and expanse of Nepali diaspora has grown dramatically, the numbers perhaps reaching 800,000 in 2022 in the more …

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

Neutrosophic Logic is a general framework for unification of many existing logics, such as fuzzy logic (especially intuitionistic fuzzy logic), paraconsistent logic, intuitionistic logic, etc.

In 2019 Smarandache generalized the classical Algebraic Structures to NeutroAlgebraic Structures (or NeutroAlgebras) {whose operations and axioms are partially true, partially indeterminate, and partially false} as extensions of Partial Algebra, and to AntiAlgebraic Structures (or AntiAlgebras) {whose operations and axioms are totally false}, and he continued to develop them and extend a Structure in any field to the NeutroStructure and AntiStructure.

The NeutroAlgebras & AntiAlgebras are a new field of research, which is inspired from …

Generation Of Creative Game Scene Patterns By The Neutrosophic Genetic Cocoso Method, Aurimas Petrovas, Romualdas Bausys, Edmundas Kazimieras Zavadskas, Florentin Smarandache

Branch Mathematics and Statistics Faculty and Staff Publications

Creative procedural generation requires, by its nature, a nondeterministic result. Each set of outputs has to satisfy the required criteria and, at the same time, has to show unique results to be considered creative. One of the keys to increasing nondeterminism is to use fuzzy neutrosophic sets. A combination of a CoCoSo multi-criteria decision algorithm with a genetic algorithm to generate game scenes was proposed. The algorithm satisfies the required game rules and improves the aesthetics value of the visual game scene. The proposed approach seeks to produce a creative solution which satisfies the replayability principle, when the solution is …

تم تعريف Neutrosophic Over-/ Under- / Off-Set and -Logic

Neutrosophic Over-/Under-/Off-Set and -Logic were defined for the first time by Smarandache in 1995 and published in 2007. They are totally different from other sets/logics/probabilities. He extended the neutrosophic set respectively to Neutrosophic Overset {when some neutrosophic component is > 1}, Neutrosophic Underset {when …
