Northwest Minnesota Economic and Business Conditions Report

Northwest Minnesota business conditions are expected to soften over the next several months according to the predictions of the St. Cloud State University (SCSU) Northwest Minnesota Index of Leading Economic Indicators (LEI). All five components of the leading index were lower in the third quarter as the LEI retreated by 9.37 points. A more challenging macroeconomic environment for rural America and recent weakness in consumer sentiment were two components that helped drag down the LEI. Southeast Minnesota Economic and Business Conditions Report

Southeast Minnesota business conditions are expected to soften over the next several months according to the most recent prediction of the Southeast Minnesota Index of Leading Economic Indicators (LEI). After a quarter in which the LEI expanded by 10.82 points, this quarter’s leading index fell by 11.23 points as four of five index components turned negative. The LEI is now 10.2 percent lower than it was last year at this time. Twin Cities Minnesota Economic and Business Conditions Report

Twin Cities economic performance is expected to be steady over the next several months according to the prediction of the Twin Cities Index of Leading Economic Indicators (LEI). After increasing by 4.2 points in the second quarter, the Twin Cities LEI fell by 1.61 points in this year’s third quarter as two of the five index components decreased. The LEI is now 4 percent below its level of one year ago. Southwest Minnesota Economic and Business Conditions Report

Southwest Minnesota business conditions are expected to soften over the next several months according to the predictions of the St. Cloud State University (SCSU) Southwest Minnesota Index of Leading Economic Indicators (LEI). A reduction in Mankato area single family residential building permits and considerably higher initial jobless claims in the region helped drive this quarter’s leading index lower. A weakening in the rural outlook also made a negative contribution to the LEI this quarter.
