As information technology (IT) becomes more accessible, sustaining any competitive advantage from it becomes challenging. This has caused some critics to dismiss IT as a less valuable resource. We argue that, in addition to being able to generate strategic advantage, IT should also be viewed as a strategic necessity that prevents competitive disadvantage in rapidly changing business environments. We test a set of hypotheses on strategic advantage and strategic necessity in the context of Internet banking investments among the entire population of the United States Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) banks from 2003 to 2005. Now, six years since the first stock assessment, and with the completion of a comprehensive boat-based survey of recreational fishing, ongoing annual monitoring of commercial and charter catches and a third stock assessment completed in 2013, the effectiveness of current management measures is able to be assessed.

This paper also provides an overview of the determination in regard to the sectoral allocations of the demersal scalefish resource in the WCB.

Steganography is an ancient art. It is used for security in open systems. It focuses on hiding secret messages inside a cover medium. The most important property of a cover medium is the amount of data that can be stored inside it without changing its noticeable properties. This study is motivated by the premise that online consumers can make a purchase at any time of day if they have even a tiny time slot along with Internet access. Given the increased shopping time flexibility, we first examine the patterns of online purchase timing at an online shopping mall handling diverse products (e.g., Amazon.com). The results show (1) the breakdown of purchase timing regularity and (2) the change of weekly spike purchase occurrence. The prevailing wisdom in the film and video production industries is that audio information outweighs visual information when it comes to spectator responses, but there are few empirical studies to support this claim. In previous research, four critical characteristics of sound have been identified: (1) Music, (2) visual/sound contradictions (defined as sound that is inconsistent with audience expectations based on visual information), (3) multi-channel sound, and (4) sound quality. Meiosis is the process which forms gametes and spores for reproduction in eukaryotic cells. During the pachytene phase of meiosis I, a protein structure, called the Synaptonemal Complex (SC), forms between homologous chromosomes and creates a scaffold for genetic recombination. In yeast, the Zip1 protein is a major structural component of the SC. At restrictive temperature for meiosis, ZIP1 is required for completion of meiotic divisions. At permissive temperature ZIP1 is required for proper chromosome segregation. We observed that chemical inhibition of the proteasome, with MG132, results in arrest at prophase of meiosis I. This paper investigates the value relevance of accounting information in the presence of ineffective internal control (IIC). Based on Ohlson's valuation model, this paper first documents that IIC can directly affect a firm's market value after control cost of capital, corporate governance, and other, value-relevant variables. Second, this paper finds that the value relevance of earnings and book value in determining a firm's market value are significantly reduced. Collectively, the results of this paper indicate that the effectiveness of internal controls can directly affect a firm's market value and the value relevance of accounting information.
