Problem definition: A large proportion of the world’s population has no access to electricity and so relies on noxious kerosene for their lighting needs. Solar-based solutions require a large up-front investment and are often unaffordable in this market owing to consumers’ tight liquidity constraints. As an alternative, there are business models relying on rechargeable light bulbs that are sold at a subsidized price (which renders them affordable) and require regular micropayments for recharges (which eases liquidity constraints). This paper compares the policy of selling a product to that of installed base management, in which the manufacturer leases the product to consumers, and bundles repair and maintenance services along with the product. We compare the two policies in a monopolistic setting when a firm uses either one of the policies, and when both policies are used by a single firm. We then compare the policies under competition first when two firms use identical products, and when two firms use vertically differentiated products. This chapter develops a theoretical basis for understanding the trade-offs facing a farmer for allocating his farmland among several crops over multiple growing seasons. Specifically, we focus on the farmland allocation among two cash crops (corn and soybeans) and letting the farmland lay fallow to rejuvenate the soil and increase the revenue for the crop grown on this farmland in the subsequent seasons. Companies struggle with timely project execution despite employing sophisticated management methods. Although help across projects is critical for time performance, it has not been explicitly incorporated into project management (PM) systems. We model a PM system, based on an innovative real-life practice, that both incorporates and shapes project managers’ helping behavior. A help process is at the core of this system, in which project managers may ask for and provide help while top management facilitates such exchanges. We investigate whether a firm's risk pooling affects its analysts' forecasts, specifically in terms of forecast accuracy and their use of public vs. private information, and how risk pooling interacts with a firm's position in the supply chain to affect analysts' forecasts. We use a social network analysis method to operationalize risk pooling and supply chain hierarchy, and find that risk pooling significantly reduces analysts' forecast errors and increases (decreases) their use of public (private) information. We also find that the positive (negative) relationships between risk pooling and analyst forecast accuracy and analysts' use of public (private) information are more …

Some jurisdictions permit on-farm emergency slaughter (OFES) as one end-of-life option for dairy cows and other animals that cannot be transported humanely but are deemed fit for human consumption. Anecdotal reports suggest that OFES is controversial among dairy industry professionals, but to date their perceptions of OFES have not been studied systematically. Twentyfive individual interviews and 3 focus groups with 40 dairy producers, veterinarians, and other professionals in British Columbia, Canada, revealed positive and negative perceptions of OFES influenced by (1) individual values, (2) the perceived operational legitimacy of OFES, and (3) concern over social responsibility and public perception of …

การวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นการวิจัยเชิงสำรวจ เพื่อศึกษาความตระหนักในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลของคนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้าที่ท่าเรือเกาะสีชัง จังหวัดชลบุรี และศึกษาปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อความตระหนักในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลของคนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้า ได้แก่ การรับสื่อข่าวสารด้านการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเล ความรู้ความเข้าใจต่อการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเล และทัศนคติต่อการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเล เก็บรวบรวมข้อมูลโดยใช้แบบสอบถามจากผู้ตอบแบบสอบถาม 400 คน สถิติที่ใช้คือสถิติเชิงพรรณนา ได้แก่ การแจกแจงความถี่ ร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ยและส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ใช้สถิติเชิงอนุมานเพื่อทดสอบสมมติฐาน และวิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยที่มีผลต่อความตระหนักในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลโดยการวิเคราะห์การถดถอยพหุคูณที่ระดับนัยสำคัญที่ 0.05 ผลการศึกษาพบว่า คนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้าส่วนใหญ่มีอายุระหว่าง 35-40 ปี ร้อยละ 51 มีประสบการณ์ทำงานระหว่าง 6-15 ปี ร้อยละ 64.75 มีรายได้ 20,001-25,000 บาท ขึ้นไป ร้อยละ 72.75 และคนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้าส่วนใหญ่มีภูมิลำเนาอยู่ทางภาคกลางและภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ คนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้าส่วนใหญ่ไม่แยกขยะอาหาร(79.20%) และขยะรีไซเคิล(57.30%) ผู้ประกอบการเรือลำเลียงส่วนใหญ่(81.9%)ไม่มีถุงขยะหรือถังขยะสำหรับลูกเรือ พบว่าปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล เช่น อายุ ประสบการณ์ทำงาน สถานภาพรายได้ และภูมิลำเนาไม่ส่งผลต่อความตระหนักในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลของคนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้า ทั้งนี้ความตระหนักในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลของคนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้ามีความสัมพันธ์เชิงบวกกับปัจจัยด้านความรู้ความเข้าใจต่อการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลและปัจจัยด้านทัศนคติต่อการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเล คนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้าในภาพรวมมีความตระหนักในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลในระดับมาก มีความรู้ความเข้าใจต่อการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลในระดับมาก และมีทัศนคติต่อการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเลในระดับมาก ซึ่งคนประจำเรือลำเลียงสินค้าทราบถึงคุณค่าที่ควรอนุรักษ์ไว้ของทรัพยากรทางทะเล สามารถประเมินได้ว่าการกระทำใดเป็นการทำลายทรัพยากรทางทะเล และการกระทำใดเป็นตัวช่วยในการอนุรักษ์ทรัพยากรทางทะเล แต่เนื่องจากมีข้อจำกัดของพื้นที่ที่อยู่อาศัยบนเรือลำเลียงสินค้าและวิถีชีวิตบนเรือลำเลียงสินค้าจึงทำให้ไม่มีทางเลือกที่มากพอในการจัดการขยะและน้ำเสียต่างๆ

However, AFPSC faces many challenges, including product vulnerability to market disruption and limited shelf-life. This study examines the interrelationships among supply chain integration, learning, agility and organizational performance. Survey data were collected from 257 publicly-owned companies in Pakistan, and the hypothesized framework was tested using a structural equation model. It was found that supply chain integration had a significant impact on external and internal learning. Additionally, supply chain integration was found to have an insignificant impact on firm performance and supply chain agility. การศึกษาแนวทางการประยุกต์ใช้เรือดำน้ำกับหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชน ในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาประโยชน์การใช้งานของเรือดำน้ำของกองทัพเรือ มีลักษณะอะไรบ้าง ที่มีการปฏิบัติการทางทหารนอกเหนือจากการทำสงคราม และศึกษาว่าหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชนใดบ้าง ที่มีความต้องการใช้งานเรือดำน้ำ เพื่อตอบสนองภารกิจและหน้าที่ความรับผิดชอบหรือกิจกรรมของหน่วยงานตนเอง ตลอดจนแนวทางการประยุกต์ใช้เรือดำน้ำให้เกิดประโยชน์กับหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชน รวมถึงศึกษาและวิเคราะห์ต้นทุนการปฏิบัติการของเรือดำน้ำในการปฏิบัติภารกิจนั้นๆ โดยการใช้กระบวนวิธีการวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน (Mixed Methodology) อันประกอบไปด้วย กระบวนการสัมภาษณ์แบบมีโครงสร้าง (Structured Interview) และการวิเคราะห์ต้นทุนการปฏิบัติการ (Analysis of operating costs) โดยการรวบรวมข้อมูลจากความสิ้นเปลืองที่กำหนดในรายละเอียดคุณลักษณะเฉพาะของเรือดำน้ำ (S26T) มาคำนวณหาต้นทุนการใช้งาน โดยพิจารณาถึงค่าใช้จ่ายเฉลี่ยต่อวันในการออกปฏิบัติภารกิจต่างๆ ผลการศึกษาพบว่า ลักษณะการใช้งานเรือดำน้ำที่มีการปฏิบัติการทางทหารนอกเหนือจากการทำสงคราม คือ การใช้งานเพื่อการตรวจจับวัตถุใต้ทะเล ค้นหาอากาศยาน เรืออับปาง ตลอดจนตู้คอนเทนเนอร์ที่จมอยู่ใต้ท้องทะเล และการเก็บตัวอย่างทรัพยากรน้ำทะเล อันได้แก่ น้ำทะเล อุณหภูมิน้ำทะเล ความเค็มของน้ำทะเล ซึ่งเป็นความต้องการของหน่วยงานภาครัฐและเอกชนที่เกี่ยวข้องหลายหน่วยงาน อาทิ ศูนย์อำนวยการรักษาผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติทางทะเล กองบังคับการตำรวจน้ำ และกรมเจ้าท่า เป็นต้น ทั้งนี้ หน่วยงานต่างๆ ดังกล่าวนี้ สามารถประสานขอรับการสนับสนุนข้อมูลจากการปฏิบัติงานของเรือดำน้ำหรือการใช้งานเรือดำน้ำ จากกองทัพเรือได้ ตามที่จะเห็นสมควร

การศึกษาครั้งนี้เป็นการศึกษาระดับสมรรถนะในระดับประถมศึกษา ม.ต้น-ปวส. และอนุปริญญา-ปริญญาเอก โดยการทำแบบสอบถามเก็บข้อมูลผู้ประกอบการเพื่อศึกษาหาระดับสมรรถนะ (ความรู้ ทักษะ คุณลักษณะ) ของแรงงานในปัจจุบันจากความเห็นของผู้ประกอบการในภาคอุตสาหกรรมเป้าหมาย 10 s – curve กิจการด้าน โลจิสติกส์ เขตพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจพิเศษภาคตะวันออก (EEC) ผลการศึกษาพบว่าสมรรถนะของแรงงานในกิจการประเภทโลจิสติกส์ซึ่งประกอบไปด้วย ความรู้ ทักษะ และคุณลักษณะ ของแรงงานทั้ง 3 ระดับ ได้คะแนนจากด้านความรู้ต่ำกว่าความคาดหวังของผู้ประกอบการในทุก ๆ ด้าน โดยแรงงานระดับ ม.ต้น-ปวส.มีระดับสมรรถนะโดยรวมต่ำกว่าความคาดหวังมากที่สุด รองลงมาคือระดับอนุปริญญา-ป.เอก และ ระดับประถมศึกษาตามลำดับ คุณลักษณะที่พึงประสงค์คือสมรรถนะที่สำคัญมากที่สุดสำหรับงานด้านโลจิสติกส์ในทุกระดับการศึกษา โดยเฉพาะด้านความซื่อสัตย์ สุจริต ความรับผิดชอบต่อหน้าที่ ความมีวินัยและการตรงต่อเวลา คุณลักษณะคือนิสัยการทำงานและการดำเนินชีวิต แรงงานที่ดีมีประสิทธิภาพต้องมีคุณลักษณะที่ดีเป็นอันดับแรก สมรรถนะที่สำคัญที่สุดไม่ใช่ความรู้หรือทักษะแต่เป็นคุณลักษณะ เพราะหากแรงงานขาดคุณลักษณะที่ดีแล้ว ความรู้หรือทักษะที่มีย่อมไร้ความหมาย และอาจเกิดความเสียหายได้หากนำไปใช้ในทางที่ผิด ดังนั้นแรงงานที่มีคุณลักษณะที่ดีจึงเป็นพื้นฐานที่สำคัญในการพัฒนาประเทศชาติ

งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ศึกษาเกี่ยวกับการกำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุที่ทดแทนกันได้ เพื่อนำไปกำหนดนโยบายการสั่งซื้อสำหรับการบริหารจัดการพัสดุคงคลังของพัสดุทดแทนกันได้ให้มีประสิทธิภาพ โดยปัญหาที่เกิดขึ้นในปัจจุบันสำหรับพัสดุทดแทนกันได้คือปริมาณกพัสดุในแต่ละรายการมีจำนวนมากเกินปริมาณความต้องการใช้จริง โดยมีพัสดุคงคลังเฉลี่ยสูงถึง 27 ล้านบาท แต่มีปริมาณการใช้ที่ 1.2 ล้านบาทต่อเดือน เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับปริมาณการใช้ที่ 1.2 ล้านบาทต่อเดือน ทำให้เกิดต้นทุนการจัดเก็บที่สูง ผู้วิจัยได้ดำเนินการศึกษาวิธีการใช้พัสดุ โดยการประยุกต์แบบจำลองทางคณิตศาสตร์สำหรับการกำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุให้มีต้นทุนการใช้ต่ำที่สุด ผ่านกระบวนการ Optimization เพื่อนำไปกำหนดนโยบายการสั่งซื้อพัสดุให้เหมาะสมกับปริมาณความต้องการใช้พัสดุที่แท้จริง โดยดำเนินการศึกษานโยบายการสั่งซื้อคงที่ จากแบบจำลองการสั่งซื้ออย่างประหยัด (Economic Order Quantity) และนโยบายการสั่งซื้อไม่คงที่ จากแบบจำลองการสั่งซื้อด้วยการกำหนดระดับพัสดุคงคลังเป้าหมาย (Order up-to Level) ผนวกกับการเปรียบเทียบการประยุต์ใช้นโยบายการสั่งซื้อแบบกำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุ และ ไม่กำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุ โดยตัวชีวัด ประกอบด้วย ระดับพัสดุคงคลังสิ้นงวด (Ending Inventory) ระดับการเติมเต็ม (Fill Rate) และต้นทุนรวม (Total Cost) โดยมีระดับการเติมเต็มที่ 95% ผลการศึกษาพบว่า นโยบายการสั่งคงที่แบบกำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุ ส่งผลให้มูลค่าพัสดุคงคลังลดลง 13.99% แต่มีระดับการเติมเต็มที่ 89.6% ต่ำกว่าที่กำหนด และต้นทุนรวมลดลง 5.48% สำหรับแบบไม่กำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุ ส่งผลให้มูลค่าพัสดุคงคลังลดลง 15.40% แต่มีระดับการเติมเต็มที่ 91% ต่ำกว่าที่กำหนด และต้นทุนรวมลดลง 9.07% ส่วนนโยบายการสั่งซื้อไม่คงที่แบบกำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุ ส่งผลให้มูลค่าพัสดุคงคลังลดลง 12.49% และมีระดับการเติมเต็มที่ 96% และต้นทุนรวมลดลง 10.05% บรรลุตามวัตถุประสงค์ สำหรับแบบไม่กำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุ ส่งผลให้มูลค่าพัสดุคงคลังลดลง 10.92% แต่มีระดับการเติมเต็มที่ 94.6% ต่ำกว่าที่กำหนด และต้นทุนรวมลดลง 8.54% ดังนั้นนโยบายการสั่งซื้อไม่คงที่แบบกำหนดรูปแบบการใช้พัสดุทำให้การจัดการพัสดุคงคลังมีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้นสามารถลดต้นทุนรวมลงได้ 10.05% คิดเป็นมูลค่า 3.82 ล้านบาทต่อปี
