Classifying Interdependencies In The Food And Agriculture Critical Infrastructure Sector, John Doerpinghaus Dec 2018

Classifying Interdependencies In The Food And Agriculture Critical Infrastructure Sector, John Doerpinghaus

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

This work classifies examples of infrastructure interdependencies found in the food and agriculture critical infrastructure sector. Interdependencies are identified through an examination of rice and poultry agriculture throughout the state of Arkansas. The subtleties of interdependence examples in the food and agriculture sector are inadequately captured by the well-studied interdependence classification taxonomies. Through 39 interviews, we develop an understanding of the subtle temporal, geographic, and productivity scales of interdependence in over 100 examples and present five new, distinct classifications of interdependence: (1) dynamic physical, (2) dynamic geographic, (3) deadline, (4) delay, and (5) human, economic, and natural resource interdependencies. An …

Assessing The Impacts Of Crowdsourcing In Logistics And Supply Chain Operations, Ha Hai Ta

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Crowdsourcing models, whereby firms start to delegate supply chain operations activities to a mass of actors in the marketplace, have grown drastically in recent years. 85% of the top global brands have reported to use crowdsourcing in the last ten year with top names such as Procter & Gamble, Unilever, and Nestle. These emergent business models, however, have remained unexplored in extant SCM literature. Drawing on various theoretical underpinnings, this dissertation aims to investigate and develop a holistic understanding of the importance and impacts of crowdsourcing in SCM from multiple perspectives. Three individual studies implementing a range of methodological approaches …

This research was conducted by measuring the number of SKU’s and unique brands present at the locations of three categories of shopping goods across two home center retailers. The results of this research indicate that an online store shows the capacity to increase the variety of brands that a retailer can display and therefore reduce their dependency on suppliers who provide a greater number …

Consumers' Willingness To Pay For Specialty Table Eggs, Rachel Braun

Supply Chain Management Undergraduate Honors Theses

The purpose of this research is to define the relationship between two constructs and the purchasing behavior of consumers. These two constructs are composed of zoocentric and anthropocentric ideologies, which are established according to one’s attitudes towards an animal’s purpose on earth in relation to humans. This study investigates the effect that these two viewpoints have on a consumer’s willingness to pay for specialty table eggs and conventional table eggs. Using a survey questionnaire, we sampled 327 college students to test these relationships. Using confirmatory factor analysis to establish construct validity and hierarchical linear regression to test the hypotheses, we …

The Contagion Of Lean Inventory Management In The Supply Chain, Kennedy Green

Supply Chain Management Undergraduate Honors Theses

This study examines the impact of buyer-supplier relationship age and industry similarity on the effect of buyer inventory leanness on supplier inventory leanness. While previous literature has studied the relationship between buyer inventory leanness and supplier inventory leanness, there has not been a large focus on the external relationship characteristics that influence this relationship. This study hypothesizes that buyer-supplier relationship age and similarity increase the effect of buyer inventory leanness on supplier inventory leanness. With data from buyer-supplier observations in different U.S. industries from 2008 to 2015, regression was used to measure the inventory leanness of each supplier and year. …
