Trends In Manufacturing Inventory Efficiency: 1980-2013, Ahren Johnston
Trends In Manufacturing Inventory Efficiency: 1980-2013, Ahren Johnston
Atlantic Marketing Journal
This study was motivated by Cooke’s 2013 article questioning the inclusion on inventory carrying costs in CSCMP’s Annual State of Logistics Report since it is based on interest rates. This paper explores that question more fully and goes on to look at trends in inventory efficiency based on inventory turnover for U.S. manufacturing firms. Results of the study reveal that there has been a level trend between 1980 and 2013 after firm size is controlled for. Since these results are contradictory to those obtained by looking at inventory carrying costs as a percent of GDP, they suggest the need for …
A Systemic Analysis Of The Defection Process In The Small Parcel Logistic Industry, Darrell J. Gualco
A Systemic Analysis Of The Defection Process In The Small Parcel Logistic Industry, Darrell J. Gualco
Doctoral Dissertations
The study of customer-initiated defection from one provider of services to another has been studied extensively in the business-to-consumer market. The reason to study defection patterns and analytics is to allow businesses to identify and control antecedents to defection that in turn will generate increased customer loyalty, market share, and profitability. Keaveney's study of defection was the starting point for understanding the key criteria individuals used to switch their purchasing criteria.
This research adds to existing defection theory by addressing the narratives of eight individuals who switched their vendor relationship in the small-parcel package industry. Prior to this research, no …
The Effects Of A Disaster’S Onset On The Humanitarian Aid Supply Chain, Micheal J. P. Dwyer
The Effects Of A Disaster’S Onset On The Humanitarian Aid Supply Chain, Micheal J. P. Dwyer
Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2013
Through the development of an illustrative model, this conceptual paper argues that the relative timeframe of the onset of a disaster – whether slow or sudden - is related to the form of the supply chain response of the humanitarian aid organization. Further, a proposed method for researching the interrelationship between the nature of a disaster and how it affects the formulation of the humanitarian aid supply chain is offered. Several contributing characteristics of humanitarian aid supply chains are identified and described within the context of the model. Finally, several potential avenues for future research are described including the efficiencies …

Shopper Marketing And Social Networks: The Path To Integration, Hannah Joy Stolze
Doctoral Dissertations
The purpose of this dissertation is to examine the phenomenon of cross-functional integration of frontline employees supporting complex marketing initiatives. This dissertation contributes to research and managers through the exploration of how integration takes place, how knowledge is integrated across functions through social ties between people, and to begin to inspect its effects on the performance of marketing strategies. Integration captures the state of collaboration and coordination between individuals within and between a firm’s functions. To date, cross-functional integration has been conceptually developed, but not empirically evaluated.
An extensive, multi-disciplinary literature review provides the foundation for understanding integration within the …
Organization Structure And Service Capabilities As Predictors Of Supply Chain Performance: B2b Seller’S Perspective, Harash J. Sachdev, G. Russell Merz
Organization Structure And Service Capabilities As Predictors Of Supply Chain Performance: B2b Seller’S Perspective, Harash J. Sachdev, G. Russell Merz
Association of Marketing Theory and Practice Proceedings 2010
In buyer-seller exchanges the seller not only provides the goods and service but also transfers its organization capabilities on to the buying firm. Improper selection and usage of these capabilities may reduce the seller’s sustainable competitive edge in future transactions in this supply chain. Through field interviews and Resource Based View literature, the authors propose and test a model linking organization structure, service capabilities, and seller’s satisfaction and performance in business-to-business exchanges. Based on eighty-seven responses, the results indicate that autonomous structure has a positive impact on all three service capabilities. Formalization has a positive influence on only logistics service …
