Through analysis of city data, court documents, and on-site observations, this investigation reveals how unauthorized drivers exploit travelers, charging excessive fares while posing safety risks. Despite public awareness campaigns and enforcement efforts by the Port Authority and others agencies, the problem continues to evolve. NYCity News Service reporters Emily Davis and Ricardo Partida investigate how these hustlers operate in plain sight of airport authorities.

Textiles serve as the export engine of Pakistan’s economy, constituting 60 percent of its total exports. Despite this prominence, Pakistan's global share in textile exports has consistently declined. Considering this, this study explores the potential impact of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) on fostering textile exports. The study applied a structural gravity model with the Poisson pseudo-maximum likelihood (PPML) estimator to analyze annual exports for the period 2002–2021. Findings exhibit a positive and statistically significant effect of FTAs on textile exports, with varied impacts compared to major competitors. The purpose of this qualitative study was to better understand and analyze themes and patterns shared among the lived experiences of 12 female Latina Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs) in male-dominated police departments in the Midwest (Illinois and Minnesota). The researcher chose to adopt a basic interpretive qualitative research methodology for this study because it provides a flexible and useful research tool, and provided a broader approach to interpreting meaning from rich and detailed data, yet complex, and account of semi-structured interviews that served as a data collection instrument. This study aims to bridge the gap between stakeholder capitalism—manifesting today in the evolving corporate social impact paradigm—and the historical shareholder primacy of corporate law. The emerging view of corporate purpose, particularly stakeholder capitalism, is closely related to the notion of fairness. This article demonstrates—by looking mainly at Israeli corporate law—that certain foundational concepts of behavioral economics better describe and justify the recent prominence of stakeholderism and the rejuvenated discourse of corporate social impact and purpose than does neoclassical economic theory. In internal transactions between affiliated companies, there are two opposite directions of wealth-transfer: (1) in the “forward transfer of wealth” (FTW), the wealth-transfer arises from an affiliated company where a controller’s “economic interest” (i.e., “cash-flow right”) is smaller relative to another affiliated company where the controller’s economic interest is larger; (2) in the “reverse transfer of wealth” (RTW), the wealth-transfer arises from an affiliated company where a controller’s economic interest is larger relative to another affiliated company, where the controller’s economic interest is smaller. Countless pages have been devoted to the question of why everyone should pay tax, yet its opposite has gone largely unnoticed: why should some people and organizations not pay tax? Our tax system exempts from ordinary income taxation a wide and diverse array of people and organizations engaged in significant economic activity—from parents providing childcare services for their family to consular activities and charities operating animal shelters—seemingly without a convincing explanation. The truth of disclosures by public companies is policed by both private plaintiffs and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The courts and many commentators have viewed the SEC as a more responsible enforcer than private litigants. Entrepreneurial enforcers with a profit motive have an incentive to advance questionable legal theories to expand the reach of Rule 10b-5, the primary federal prohibition of securities fraud. In contrast, the conventional view is that a public enforcer will bring straightforward cases against public companies. Middle East Journal of Communication Studies

This study investigated media framing of environmental issues in Jordanian digital newspapers. The study employed a media survey approach with content analysis of 335 journalistic articles published on the websites of three major Jordanian newspapers (Al-Ghad, Al-Dustour, Al-Rai) from January 1, 2022, to June 30, 2022. Multi-stage sampling ensured representativeness. Results showed all three Jordanian digital newspapers addressed environmental issues, with Al-Ghad leading (40%), followed by Al-Dustour (31%) and Al-Rai (29%). The study found a diversity of sources in journalistic treatment (officials: 29%, news agencies: 18.5%, journalists: 12.8%). Climate change (23.1%), water resources (17.3%), and food security (14.1%) were the …
