A COMMON THEME unites the six articles of this summer literary issue, and that is, in the words of one of our six authors, the "social relevance of literature." Surely nothing could be more relevant, more agonizingly immediate, than the question of capital punishment now moving into fresh confrontation with the Supreme Court. A Statistical & Cartographic Analysis Of The Size-Distribution Of Retail Grocery Stores In Bowling Green, Kentucky, Luke Hall
Masters Theses & Specialist Projects
The purpose of this study was to investigate the spatial distribution of retail grocery stores in Bowling Green, Kentucky using the formal element of store size as a controlling theme. This purpose was behaviorally accomplished through a cartographic analysis of the city wide arrangement and a statistical analysis measuring the degree and intensity of selected variables. A survey of pertinent literature was undertaken to discover locational trends and to uncover sixteen specific variables suggested to provide association with grocery store distribution. THIS APRIL 1975 issue of THE MIDWEST QUARTERLY is the second we have been able to devote largely to work by or about women, the first having appeared in October 1973. Both issues involved us in some perplexities, but the lead article of this April number goes far toward answering an unspoken question of ours: why do so few women, proportionately speaking, send us good poems and articles?
