This collection is comprised of seventeen Civil War era letters from Mary Metcalf Barrett to her sister, Elvira Metcalf Aplin between 1859 and 1872. She discusses her feelings about the Civil War, her worry over her son and nephews away fighting, her experiences of life on the home front in Manchester, New Hampshire during the war when foodstuffs are expensive and sometimes hard to find. She repeatedly mentions the mills and industries in town limiting hours or closing altogether, affecting all the employees and making the town destitute. She talks about her income from making and mending clothing but also …

This collection consists primarily of 75 letters Betty wrote to her family during her two years at Gettysburg College. They date from September 18, 1950 through May 19, 1952, excluding the summer holiday. The letters chronicle Betty’s college activities, showing specifically her participation in band, choir, the Independent Women, Kappa Delta Rho (her brother’s fraternity), and dorm life. This collection also contains one scrapbook sheet of four photographs taken on campus and Lyon’s freshman name sign.

This collection contains a number of different materials, including a scrapbook and photographs, newspaper clippings, letters, publications, and programs from both Tau Delta chapter and the national sorority. A majority of these materials are from the 1930’s and 1940’s, when Gamma Phi became Chi Omega. They focus on a number of events, including the installation banquet, a national conference, and an anniversary dinner, and many are associated with the Alumnae Chapter Ramer helped to establish in Gettysburg. This collection contains 10 diaries ranging from 1827 to 1890, two of which are written by John Gottleib Morris and eight by M.A. Hay. These diaries contain church membership and donation records as well as Morris' personal thoughts on the ministerial profession, and his duty to the church. He speaks on personal matters like his marriage and his children who have died. One diary also includes his note on the formation of the Lutherville Female College.

This collection of correspondence contains letters from all fronts and from many of Gladys’ “sweethearts.” It appears that she shipped her address out in the parts she made at the Depot and would get responses from some of the soldiers and sailors. Some of the letters are from soldiers and sailors abroad from her hometown of York Springs, Pennsylvania. Collection includes paperwork from a raise received by Kennedy in 1944.

This collection includes twenty four letters from Dwight D. and Mamie Eisenhower to Col. and Mrs. Sam White during the years, 1955-1974. They primarily contain expressions of thanks for correspondence and gifts from the Whites, as well as news about the Eisenhower family and Dwight D. Eisenhower’s health. With the exception of two handwritten letters from Mamie, all are typed and signed. Most of Mamie’s letters contain additional handwritten notes. One letter was typed and signed on behalf of Mamie Eisenhower by her secretary, Mary Jane McCaffree.

Between 1975 and 1989 Anna Jane Moyer produced a series of essays for the Gettysburg College alumni magazine capturing “moments” on campus and in the town of Gettysburg since 1832. Treating people, places, and notable events over the course of the College’s first 150 years, Moyer’s sketches reached an appreciative audience at the time. But with the Gettysburg College 175th anniversary approaching, it seemed appropriate to make her writing more readily available to alumni, friends of the College, students, and scholars.
