In March 2013 two long standing friends, each passionate about their craft, each with a desire to bring something new to the Belfast restaurant scene combined forces and opened OX overlooking the River Lagan.

Belfast-born Stephen and Brittany native Alain met in Paris. Working in various influential and inspirational restaurants they have honed their skills, developed their talents and percolated ideas to put into practice against the backdrop of their own relaxed riverside restaurant.

The Muddler's Club feels like a club in the old sense. Being tucked away between Waring Street and Exchange Place, the place is a proper hide-out. There's a comforting informality to its exclusivity and the warm welcome of Barry, the manager, sets a behavioural pattern which trickles through to the rest of the staff.

It's a hospitable place with a bar at the entrance end and full-on kitchen views in the dining room - like a smaller, more stylish version of Nick's Warehouse.

Open since 2000, Shu (the ancient Egyptian God of atmosphere) is set in a fine Victorian terrace on Belfast's Lisburn Road. Furnished in a contemporary style a bright space with lots of natural light, the 90 seater main restaurant has a theatre style kitchen which serves award winning food. Shu also incorporates a basement cocktail bar, which lends itself to dining at weekends and a private dining room on the first floor.
