This chapter presents the use of Lost & Found – a purpose-built tabletop to mobile game series – to teach medieval religious legal systems. The series aims to broaden the discourse around religious legal systems and to counter popular depiction of these systems which often promote prejudice and misnomers. A central element is the importance of contextualizing religion in period and locale. My experiences are me. This project is an excavation of these experiences in order to create consciousness, awareness, assign language, and pay homage to those experiences that have heavily influenced how I move through the world with dance as my medium. I am really interested in the embodiment of history rather than the traditionally written and published history. Acknowledging the history that we hold in our vessels and that history being just as important, present, and valuable as the history we may read.
