Dinner In The City: Reclaiming The Female Half Of History: Christine De Pisan's The Book Of The City Of Ladies And Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party, Marsha M. Pippenger
Master of Humanities Capstone Projects
Although separated by more than 500 years, Christine de Pisan's "The Book of the City of Ladies" (1405) and Judy Chicago's "The Dinner Party" (1979) were created to validate and defend women and women's achievements and to move them from the periphery of the historical canon to the center, alongside accomplished men of history. Both are responses to misogynist beliefs and texts of their times. In this essay I present the historical basis of misogyny as well as events that led the two women to create their pieces. Esther Wood taught Social Sciences and History at Gorham Normal School from 1930 to 1972. She regularly wrote columns for the Christian Science Monitor and received many awards, including “Woman of the Year” from the Blue Hill Chamber of Commerce and a Doctorate of Humane Letters honoris causa from Colby College. In 1973, the University named a dormitory building on the Gorham campus in her honor. The Papers consist of her lecture notes on the history of New England from the 16th century through the colonial period and the Revolutionary War to the founding of the State of Maine …

Dr. Wolf has been a faculty member in the nursing department (now the School of Nursing and Health Sciences) since its inception in 1980, when it was still a division of the School of Arts and Sciences. She was the first full-time faculty hired for the new department and worked under the leadership of Dr. Gloria Donnelly. At the time of the interview, she was Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. The interview was conducted in her office in the School of Nursing and Health Sciences main offices on the Mezzanine Level of Wister Hall.

Minna F. Weinstein (1933-2008) was born in Baltimore, Maryland. Her parents were both deaf and met at a school for the deaf in Western Maryland. Her father was a major proponent of education, and both she and her brother became teachers. She went on to college and graduate school at the University of Maryland, where she earned her B.A. in History, 1955, an M.A. in History, 1957, and a Ph.D. in History in 1965. During her time in the PhD program, she was a history instructor at Temple University, from 1961 to 1964, becoming an Assistant Professor in 1965. In …

Guides to Manuscript Collections
The First Presbyterian Church of Huntington Archives contain material dating back to the early nineteenth century, with the bulk of the items dating from between the 1880s and the 1990s. The collection consists primarily of 'Minutes of Session,' which relate to official church business; 'Bulletins,' which give information about church sermons, calendars, and events; and 'Church Groups,' which provide information on the social structure and individuals within the Church. There are extensive financial records pertaining to the church, as well as membership rosters for many Church groups, and some marriage/baptism registers. Also included are a few "histories" written by Church …
