This collection is composed of materials used by Janet Gibbs Reed to create an index to Mason County, Virginia (later West Virginia) death records. Additional materials in the collection are cemetery records from cemeteries in Mason County, Mason County Court orders, and an index to deaths in Pt. Pleasant, WV in the 1970s. The second box contains the completed indexes.

These photographs include one photo of the Valentine and Newcomb building, an interior shot from 1936, group shots from company picnics and outings, and other shots including a Huntington High School Group Photo, c. 1940s and a photo of the Nineteenth Annual Banquet, National Retail Dry Goods Association, 1930.

This collection consists of a scanned copy of the diary of C. F. Ropes, a Union soldier with the Iowa Volunteer Infantry, and a copy of a publication titled “Civil War Diary of C. F. Ropes, 38th/34th Iowa Volunteer Infantry, Co. “H”, 1865” compiled, annotated, and edited by Karen N. Cartwright Nance. The diary covers the period from January to September 1865, and takes place mostly in the Gulf area between Galveston, Texas, and Pensacola, Florida.
